Waiting on God - November 02, 2006

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and Not be faint."
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

I have always loved words and wordplay. If it is the morning crossword, I am on it. If it is learning a new a more expressive word, I must master it. The English language is full of words and expressions that should not make sense, yet they do.

One way of defining the word waiting is to remain or to stay in expectation. We anticipate the movement of the Holy Spirit or we wait for the heart of God to shape us and mold us. This classic definition shows us anticipating and expecting. One other way of defining the word waiting is to serve the needs of or to attend to the needs of another. In other words, think of the person serving you next time you sit down at your favorite restaurant. If you read it with the 2nd definition in mind it is a lot less passive, and a lot more work.

When you pray in the morning do you wait upon the Lord, or do you wait upon the Lord? By that I mean, do you sit in expectation, or do you ask the Lord "how may I wait upon you today?" The Lord delights in a child who finds his refuge and his life lived waiting upon the Lord. In return God will show you his mercy, his compassion, his love for us in new and more invigorating ways.

In todays dial it up, get it to me fast, meet me on my terms world we do not like to wait in the traditional sense of letting time pass. Instead, what would it be like if we took our packed planners, hectic schedules and said "here Lord, let me wait upon you? All that I have is yours, bless it and let me wait upon you."

Thank you Chad, that gave me a new in-sight to things. As to be honest, I really tend to wait on answers from Him before moving, then to actually wait on Him and do His will. As His will may not be the same as mine.

I know the answers, but it's so difficult to put it into practice sometimes.

God bless you.

Thanks this word are for me like a bright in the middle of the darkness,God Bless You
