Understanding who the offspring, seed, descendants of Abram are??

Seems to me the root of the divide of people who claim the land promise is for the ethnic Jew and those who claim NO it is for Christ, and those in Christ. Those are the 2 views I have seem most about the following passage. And it causes lot of differences in everything we believe in the bible.

Can you define with scripture who are the offspring, descendants, seed, family, the Lord God is speaking of in this scripture???



Genesis 12:7

The LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.

In Genesis 25: 19 And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac: 20 and Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian. 21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? So now we see that Esau (Edom) is Red and hairy. Now Esau sold his birthright and despised it because he miss one meal and was hungry. Jacob bought the birthright, he didn’t steal it, with the birthright comes the blessing. In Jerusalem there are two firstborn sons (Ishmael and Esau) fighting over a the land they believe belongs to them, but God chose Jacob (Israel). All these guys (Hebrews) came out of Abraham, but different nationality of people.
