They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated. 1 Chronicles 5:20 NLT

What is it like to be called a god? Paul and Barnabas knew.

After they performed a miracle at Lystra, the crowds began to worship them, saying they were Zeus and Hermes in human form. Stunned, Paul and Barnabas tore their clothes and reminded the worshippers, “We are merely human beings—just like you!” (Acts 14:15 NLT). Did they react this passionately because they knew personal disaster comes to those who place their trust in humanity?

To help the audience understand the importance of trusting God over human beings, Paul adds, “In the past he (God) permitted all the nations to go their own ways, but he never left them without evidence of himself and his goodness” (14:16-17 NLT). Even today it is easier for people to “go their own ways,” to trust humans, rather than the One they cannot see.

Even in the most anxiety-producing moments, you can show your trust in God by calling out to Him—like the struggling armies of Israel (1 Chronicles 5:20).

Psalm 105 includes a retelling of the effort God extended in Egypt to remind His people that a meaning-filled life comes through trusting Him over humans.

What about you? Will you trust God’s wisdom over the insights of men?

Prayer: Lord, show me how to find my life’s deepest meaning through trusting Your Word instead of the human insights I hear every day.

It is interesting that Jesus said, "no one is good except God..." (Luke 18:19)

When anyone says they are a "good" that person is calling themselves God!

Hello Brother,
Yes it is interesting. I think it's truly a lack of understanding what "good" means in context of Eternity, and only God is capable of that. Meaning that God is Good not only as God, but the things He does as well!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
