Trusting God's Leading

Whether we like it or not, we will obey the LORD our God to whom we are sending you with our plea. For if we obey him, everything will turn out well for us." Jeremiah 42:6 NLT

A small group of Jews were camped nervously beside the road to Egypt. Lawless Jews had killed the Babylonian governor and many others, and now the shaken survivors feared retribution from the Babylonians. They told Jeremiah to ask God what they should do, whether to trust Him and stay in Judah, or to flee to Egypt. They promised they'd obey no matter what He answered.

But they didn't really trust Him, because when God told them to stay, promising to protect them in Judah, they insisted they were heading to Egypt.

What about you? Do you truly trust God's leading when you're in a crisis? Or do you just go through the motions of seeking His guidance, putting on a show of spirituality for those watching but secretly counting on God putting His stamp of approval on the "reasonable" decision you favor?

If you truly want things to go well with you, you must trust God, obeying Him even when His leading seems to make little sense--even when it appears to be illogical or inexplicably difficult.

Prayer: God, help me to trust You sincerely and be willing to follow You whether what You lead me to do seems easy or difficult.
