"Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?" Jesus replied, "'You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments." Matthew 22:36-40 NLT

When questions are simple, it still sometimes feels like the answers are complicated. For instance, “Why is the sky blue?” The answer is pretty complex—it involves the atmosphere and prismatic light waves—and it took scientists a long time to work out.

When the Jewish religious leaders asked Jesus which commandment was greatest, they were trying to trip Him up. It was a simple question that the Pharisees themselves had spent years debating, but Jesus didn’t hesitate. As God, He had given the Law to Moses and intimately understood what it was meant to accomplish: helping people love God and others.

When we face situations that are deceptively complex, we’d be wise to ask how our actions could be most loving toward God and others. The answers don’t always need to be complicated. Following through on them may not be easy, but loving from your heart is always the right answer.

Prayer: God, help me love You more, and help me give Your love to others.

The Love of the new covenant is described in the NT. Pride makes it very difficult to do. Return evil for evil to no one, If your enemy is hungry, feed him, if thirsty give him a drink. Conquer the evil with the good(love)Romans 12:17-21--Few can do this. Mo mortal can accomplish this, that one needs Gods strength to accomplish it. Those returning the evil are throwing Gods advice away for pride.
