You always hear people saying there needs to be a translator or that only one or two should speak at a time, yet in the book of acts we have 12 people speaking in tongues at the same time with no mention of a translator, and no mention that it was another language. I just found that to be interesting in my morning study and thought I would share

Acts 19
6 And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. 7 There were about twelve men in all.

Tongues is another word languages.

Dear Brother Dave,
What happened during the Day of Pentecost was a unique situation. In fact I don't recall this happening in this fashion ever again in the magnitude as described in the Book of Acts. It truly helped establish the church!

The interpreter part I believe was for the purposes of keeping order in the church. At least that's how Paul describes it to the church at Corinth.

1Co 14:26 NKJV - How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
1Co 14:27 NKJV - If anyone speaks in a tongue, [let there be] two or at the most three, [each] in turn, and let one interpret.
1Co 14:28 NKJV - But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God.

What happened during the Day of Pentecost was a unique situation. In fact I don't recall this happening in this fashion ever again in the magnitude as described in the Book of Acts. It truly helped establish the church!

The rushing wind, and flames of fire, only in the upper room ( Acts 2 )
The speaking in tongues when people were baptized in the Holy Spirit? At least 3 other times are mentioned, most of these are several years later.
Acts 10:46; Acts 19:6; 1Cor 14:18;

Also the "Day of Pentecost" wasn't a one time event. Paul also goes to a day of Pentecost event several years after the first one.
Acts 20:16; 1Cor 16:8;

Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Spirit ( 1Cor 12:28; )

Dear Brother BAC
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Unique, in that it was the first public manifestation of the Work of the Holy Spirit by the use of the gift of tongues. From what I can tell no one who came to the Lord of the 3,000 spoke in tongues at that time, only the Disciples who were already believers. Also, I was not communicating that Pentecost was a one time event.
