"And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did [it] to one of the least of these My brethren, you did [it] to Me.' Matthew 25:40
If you're married you know that not every day is a good day. Arguments can lead to cold shoulders. Frustration sets in. Conversation is on hold. You blame her. She blames you. No one budges from their position. Sometimes these disagreements last so long you forget why you're mad.
Jesus taught His disciples that when they serve those in need they're serving Him. The nobility buried deep inside you should like that idea. Most men are fixers, doers, and refuse to ask for help. But that idea promotes the very pride that keeps you from being reconciled to your wife when trust is needed.
What if you took this idea and worked to make things right in your marriage as a gift to Jesus? You shouldn't view this as the only application when considering ways to show your gratitude to Jesus, but it improves your most important human relationship.
Today you have a choice of flowers, chocolate, and a nice meal out. Perhaps there's an even better gift for both your wife and Jesus.
Prayer: Lord, may the kindness I want to show be with me now. May it be offered as a gift to You, on behalf of my wife and family. Help me to resist responding in pride.
