Give your tenth unto The Lord
Before deductions bite
He must get your firstfruits first
Their holy in His sight
For He loves a cheerful giver
One who trusts His word
He will bless you in a way
For which your'e not prepared.

Money is a scary subject
Fills you full of fear
satan hates to think of you
Bringing Father cheer
Trust The Lord with all your heart
Put Him first, at last
You will reap what you have sown
Your treasure will be vast.

I really like this poem, would you mind if I printed a copy of it to put on the notice board of our church or perhaps the news letter? Obviously with your name and/or details at the bottom.

It is an Anglican church, and people seem to have forgotten about the tithe, they still bring the £1 a week they did in the 70's.

The church treasurer came to me to ask me to fill in a giftaid form to claim back tax on my donations, and she was taken aback when I said I don't earn enough to pay tax (under £7000 a year), and I was even more taken aback when she said "but you are the highest contributor!"

The congregation include those on over £50,000 a year? Living in huge houses and driving new cars?

I am struggling to contribute financially the past 6 weeks or so, so instead making sure that I contribute more and more of my time and save them money on little jobs that need doing, but I do realise that I should go back to giving 10% ASAP.
