This post is about what happens when everyday people decide to look at their life in a way that will make their life count forever—and, in the process, become the man or woman God meant for them to be.
My name is Ed Underwood, and I want to teach you how to live your life leaning into the bold and wonderful purposes of God for you. It is the most basic principle of Christianity, a daring way to face your years on earth. It is simple—one command supported by three far-reaching consequences—and spoken thousands of years ago, but I believe it holds the secret to the fullest experience of life possible on earth.
Ever had one of those moments when you suddenly understood something so perfectly that you were able to say something that came from the deepest fold of your heart with absolute clarity? The words just flow from your lips, and as you hear yourself, you’re thinking, “That’s it! That is exactly what I meant.”
Moses had one of those moments in the wilderness just before he died. He was condensing everything God had ever taught him into a series of sermons for the generation that would move forward into the Promise Land without Him. Trying to help them understand the consequences of their responses to God, he said this: “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Talk about a Tipping Point—heaven and earth, life or death, blessing or cursing, you and your descendants! The command? Choose life! I can’t think of a better sentence to summarize the message of the Bible: Choose life!
Life, real life is what God is offering everyone. But we must choose this life He is offering by trusting Him enough to respond to His love.
I hope you will join me every week for the few minutes it takes to look at our life from God’s perspective. And, as your life begins to tip towards God and you feel His presence and purpose in your heart, I hope you will forward these encouragements to choose life to someone who is special to you.
Warmly,
