Revelation 6:12-17 BSB (Berean Standard Bible)
“12And I watched as the Lamb opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black like sackcloth of goat hair, and the whole moon turned blood red, 13and the stars of the sky fell to the earth like unripe figs dropping from a tree shaken by a great wind. 14The sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.
15Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the commanders, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and free man hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16And they said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb. 17For the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to withstand it?”
Their Religion of Choice
In my nation (the USA), many people profess faith in Jesus Christ, i.e. they refer to themselves as Christians. But not all who profess to be Christians are living a Christian life. For some, it is just a title, or it is their religion of choice, or something they grew up under, but not something they live by in daily practice. For many, they “believed” in Jesus via a false gospel message which did not teach them that faith in Jesus requires that we deny self, die to sin daily, and walk (in conduct, in practice) in obedience to his commands.
For many, it is just their religion of choice, and rituals that they perform (or not), and something they do weekly by habit, by culture, but it is not their lifestyle. It is not what they live by day in and day out. It is a title that they wear, but it has no meaning behind it. And it can be just for show, to make an impression on others, but not something lived out day by day. So, not everyone who claims Christianity as their religion of choice is living out the Christian life in daily practice. Sadly, for many, it is just a title they wear.
The Morally Unclean
And then we have those who are opportunists, who are malicious, morally unclean, deceivers, manipulators, liars, and the untrustworthy who fake their Christianity to impress others, or so they will be accepted in certain environments, or in order to deceive, manipulate, use and abuse, and mislead others with regard to what the Scriptures actually teach it looks like if we are genuine followers of Christ. For they are charlatans or “wolves in sheep’s clothing” whose goal it is to deceive, mislead, and to teach lies.
And some of them are pastors and elders of “church” congregations. And some of them are political figures who claim to be Christians but who are living the opposite of what the Christian life is all about. And some of them are just ordinary everyday people who want to give a good impression to others, so that they will be liked and accepted, but who secretly engage in all sorts of evil, especially in the area of sexual immorality, idolatry, and adultery. And so they tell lies, by habit, to cover up their sinful practices.
But God Will Judge
Those who are morally unclean, who fake their Christianity in order to impress and/or to deceive others, and/or those for whom sin is still what they practice, for they keep going back to the same sins over again, and for whom obedience to our Lord’s commands is not what they practice, they will one day have to face the wrath of God, and God will judge them. And all who claimed Jesus as Lord, but did not die to sin and obey God’s commands, in practice, they will not have salvation from sin nor eternal life with God.
Sadly, many professing Christians are ignoring this reality, and they are continuing in their sin and in disobedience to our Lord, by habit, and some of them are relying on false hopes of salvation from sin and eternal life with God based off lip service to God alone. But the Scriptures make it quite clear to us, if we will read them and believe what they teach, that if sin is what we practice, by habit, and not obedience to our Lord’s commands, that we will not have salvation from sin nor eternal life with God. Take this to heart!

Great and marvelous are Your deeds, O God.
Just and true Your ways, King of all the earth.
Who will not fear You; glorify Your name?
You are righteousness. Praise Your Name!
Just are You, O Lord, our Eternal ONE,
For You judge the earth in Your righteousness.
They have shed the blood of Your righteous ones.
You give their reward. They’re to blame!
Kings of all the earth gather, one accord;
Make haste to engage in a mighty war.
They oppose the Lord and His holy saints.
They serve wickedness, to their shame!
Jesus comes again, to some unforeseen.
Blessed are those who wait for Him at the gate.
They’ll not be ashamed. “Glad” be their refrain.
When He comes again, He’ll remain!
