Happy Easter

'HE WHO RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD WILL...GIVE LIFE TO YOUR MORTAL BODIES...' ROMANS 8:11

Years ago a missionary in Brazil discovered a tribe of Indians living in a remote jungle area. Disease was ravaging their population and they urgently needed medical help. However, the only clinic was on the other side of a raging river the Indians believed was inhabited by evil spirits.

In their minds, crossing the river meant certain death. Although the missionary assured them he'd crossed it safely many times, they were still scared stiff. When he led them to the bank and placed his hand in the water, they looked concerned. Then He even waded in and splashed water on his face - they started to get really panicky. Finally he dived into the water and swam under the surface, emerging safely on the other side. Having proved that the river had no special powers the missionary raised a triumphant fist. The tribe broke into cheers and all followed him across.

Today is when we celebrate Jesus diving into the river of death. He defeated it by submerging, crossing over and rising again on the other side! Dr Erwin Lutzer said. 'We don't need a Saviour who can just "help" us; we need [one] who can resurrect us. We don't need a Saviour who helps us when life gets tough; we need [one] who can help us when life ends.'

Easter proves Jesus is '"...the resurrection, and the life..."' (John 11:25 NCV). Jesus kicked the ends out of the grave, transforming it from a dead-end street into a highway from here to heaven! And Paul says, '...He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit...' No wonder we say 'Happy Easter!'
