You'll laugh again!
'THE LORD SAID TO ABRAHAM, "WHY DID SARAH LAUGH?' GENESIS 18:13
Have a little read of Genesis 18:13-14. In this passage we see God tell Abraham that his very old lady wife Sarah is going to have a baby. Not surprisingly Sarah did what any ninety something year old would do if someone said, 'You're going to have a baby,' she laughed her head off! God didn't really get what was so funny, especially when the following year, just as predicted she did indeed have a baby.
After many years of desperation to be a mum and dealing with the fact that she couldn't have kids, when she popped out her son she called him Isaac which means, 'God has brought me laughter' (Genesis 21:2-6 NIV). There are a few things we learn from this. One is that God can do absolutely anything He wants but another is a little deeper than that. Between the first and the last laugh Sarah went through a gut wrenching time of disappointment and heartache. Her hubby, Abraham, betrayed her to save his own skin and in the process a random King nearly ended up marrying her.
Like Sarah you'll also celebrate good times and suffer some bad. Some days you'll feel like you can't go a step further, yet through it all you'll learn to trust God more than you ever dreamed possible.
Here's an idea: when you share your story with other people don't just tell how you started or where you are today, tell them what God brought you through. The way God brings you through tough times gives Him as much glory as the good times, and chances are other people are having the same problems!
