The Holy Spirit
'the Holy Spirit...will teach you all things...' JOHN 14:26
Did you know that when you said yes to following Jesus you weren't left on your own to try and figure everything out for your self, no way! God gives all His children an amazing gift, His Holy Spirit. Listen: 'But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you' (John 14:26 NIV). The Holy Spirit is there to help us get to know God better and to have a close friendship with Him. You might be saying to yourself, 'how do I receive this gift?' The same way you receive any present, all you have to do is accept it, and then say thanks.
Wow, now you have a really special super-close friend for life. The Holy Spirit is God's Spirit so He will never lie to you, always love you and to top it off is really good at giving direction and advice. But hold on, it doesn't stop there! When you said yes to following Jesus you joined an amazing team. God's Church is made up of all sorts of people with loads of gifting and talents and all with one purpose. What? To see Jesus' name made famous in the world and to see the whole planet transformed by the power of His love!
Paul describes God's master plan like this in his letter to the Christians in Ephesus, 'God's purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety...' (Ephesians 3:10 NLT). Today you're part of that great display, part of that rich variety. That's so cool!
