Someone else's suitcase
'YOU SAW ME BEFORE I WAS BORN...' PSALMS 139:16
Imagine trying to live out of someone else's suitcase. Their clothes might be too big, their shoes too small. You wouldn't want to wear their underpants or use their toothbrush. Yuk!
So why do we try to be someone we're not? We waste so much time trying to look like the latest pop star or super model; we get jealous of the popular people and even change ourselves just to get them to like us. But the fact is that fashions change like the weather, one day you're popular and the next you're old news.
Our identity isn't found in a magazine or hanging on a clothes rail. As Christians our identity and security should be found in Jesus. What does that mean? Instead of letting your mates determine how you feel about yourself, you find out what Jesus thinks.
How? If you get hold of a Bible, there are loads of bits in it that show you what God thinks of His kids. Check out Psalm 139, (it's near the middle); you'll start to get an idea of how much God cares about you.
He has a purpose for you, the question is do you believe it? Listen: 'You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed' (Psalm 139:16 NLT).
If He bothered to take the time to make you He's going to make sure that His plan for your life isn't missed. Remember he wants the real you, not the fake you that's trying to live out of someone else's suitcase!
