'I HAVE SET THE LORD ALWAYS BEFORE ME...' PSALMS 16 :8
The words 'I have set the Lord always before me' are the simplest description of a spiritual life.
There are a few signs God gives us to let us know He's involved in our lives:
1) Reassurance: Whether you're taking an exam, or moving to a different place, the message is: '...Do not be afraid. I am with you...' (Genesis 26:24 NIV).
2) Guidance: Maybe you're really confused about what to do about a situation and then an idea comes to you. It might be a big one or a small one, but it will help. Or you're about to say something that might hurt someone's feelings, and suddenly a little voice inside your head says 'be quiet.'
3) Conviction: You're about to do something you know is wrong and suddenly you get the sense, 'no, don't do it.' Listen to that voice cause it will stop you from making unnecessary mistakes, help you to make the right choices and lead you in the plan and purpose that God has for your life.
4) Joy: 'You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence...' (Psalm 16:11 NIV).
It works like this: you make an extra effort, you hit the target and you feel a surge of satisfaction - that's what happened when God created the world. He was well chuffed with it, He looked at it and said, '...it was good!...' (Genesis 1:10 NIV). God can use any of those things to let you know he's around. If you '...set the Lord always before [you]...' (Psalm 16:8) you'll begin to be aware of Him everyday. How exciting is that!
