Say it Pray it

'"AND PRAY IN THE SPIRIT ON ALL OCCASIONS WITH ALL KINDS OF PRAYERS..."' EPHESIANS 6:18

We all can find it difficult to pray. Use these four simple words to help you:

1) Persevere: When you've been praying for something or something one for years and it feels like nothing is happening. Jesus knew how easy it is for us to stop praying when things don't start happening. Read Luke 18. Jesus tells a story to teach his disciples to pray and never give up. So hang in there and stick at it.

2) Reach out: Prayer is so much more than presenting God with a shed load of needs and demands. Prayer is the way for us to reach out and touch God. God wants to spend time with you. Spend time telling Him how much you love him, trying sitting and just listening to him. Reach out to your heavenly dad

3) Agonise: How much do we care about the things we pray for. Do you agonise in prayer or just half-heartedly mention something to God as you drop off to sleep? The bible is full of stories about God's people, going without food, weeping and crying, shouting and singing because they are desperate for God to do something. Get passionate in your prayers!

4) Yield: this is an old word which means to 'give way'. Sometimes the important thing about prayer is getting to a place where we are able to stop wanting things our way but let God do it His way. Jesus said during what must have been one of the most difficult times of prayer in his life: '"...not my will but yours..."' (Luke 22:42 NIV) Often it's not until we can echo those words that we see things change in our lives.
