Rising above guilt and shame (3)

'THE ACCUSER...HAS BEEN THROWN DOWN.' REVELATIONS 12:10

A man who worked in an office used to play a trick on new employees. He'd sneak up to them and whisper, 'They know what you did,' then walk away smiling. First, the person would look bewildered. Then they'd get well stressed and out panic as thoughts raced through their mind, 'Who are they?' 'What do they know?' 'What are they saying?' Solomon said, 'The wicked are edgy with guilt...even when no one's after them' (Proverbs 28:1 TM).

And everybody is vulnerable; even the innocent tend to naturally protect themselves and conceal whatever they can. The Bible says that satan is called 'the accuser'. That means he spends his time trying to tell you rubbish, feed you lies, make you feel guilty, make you feel bad and worthless and it's simply not true!

As a child of God you're free, blameless and pure. When doubts are whispered in your ear you have every right to stand up and say with confidence 'no, that's not true' and then tell those lies to 'do one'. It's not God who's making you feel guilty; He wants you to know you're loved and forgiven. That's why Paul writes: 'Who dares accuse us who God has chosen for his own? Will Jesus? No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honour next to God, pleading for us.'

(Rom 8 v 34 NLT). 'And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love'. (Rom 8 v 38). Says it all really doesn't it?
