He can make it up to you
'MY FATHER AND MOTHER WALKED OUT AND LEFT ME, BUT GOD TOOK ME IN.' PSALM 27:10
Most of us at some point have lost someone close to us. You might have had a close friend who moved a long way away, perhaps someone close to you passed away before their time or maybe your family has felt the pain of a divorce. Going through life without the hugs and support you need can make you really struggle and even find it difficult to understand who you are.
When you grow up listening to endless arguments but never seeing affection, it's easy to think that's normal, then in a few years when it's your turn you can't help wondering 'How should I act as a parent, and why do I still feel like a lost child?' David said, 'My father and mother walked out and left me, but God took me in' (Psalm 27:10 TM). How about that! God can hold you and heal your pain. When you're hurting, you can get on His couch and He'll be your 'Wonderful Counsellor'
(Isaiah 9:6).
When you feel like an orphan, He can be to you an 'Everlasting Father' who doesn't abandon His kids, no matter what. With Him you're always safe and protected because that's what loving fathers do. You're His child, which means if something's important to you, it's important to Him too! What's more, He can send people into your life who'll be to you, the father, the mother, the brother or the sister you never had. Listen, 'God sets the lonely in families...' (Psalm 68:6 NIV). Don't be so focused on what you don't have that you miss out on having Him in your life making it better.
