God's timing
'THE REVELATION AWAITS AN APPOINTED TIME... WAIT FOR IT; IT WILL CERTAINLY COME' HABAKKUK 2:3
God isn't random! Everything He does is deliberate. One way of understanding this aspect of God is to think about a diary full of appointments. The diary is to make sure that everything gets done on time and in the right order. God has set times for things to happen in your life. You can count on that! Problems start happening when we try to rush God's timing.
When God gives you a promise it's like a seed; it needs time to take root and bear fruit. Human life follows a similar cycle doesn't it? Everyone knows the order; mum and dad have sex (yes, even yours!), then the pregnancy, then the development in the womb and finally the day of the birth. What does mum-to-be do during this time? Prepare! She gets ready for parenthood because it won't be long before that little life announces, 'Ready or not, here I come!' The Psalmist writes: 'Don't be impatient for the Lord to act! Keep travelling steadily along his pathway and in due season he will honour you with every blessing' (Psalm 37:34 TLB).
Maturity is about learning the difference between human timing and God's timing. Is that a lesson you still need to learn? If you learn it now it will set you up for life. If you don't want to risk delaying God's plan for your life, learn to sit tight listening carefully for His 'Now' word. The prophet said, '...the revelation awaits an appointed time... wait for it; it will certainly come...' So, whenever you get impatient, remind yourself, God said it and He will make it happen in His time!
