Get over it!
'In every thing give thanks.' 1 THESSALONIANS 5:18
What kind of a future would a murderer, known as public enemy number one, on the run, living in the back end of nowhere, have? Apparently a God filled one, as this pretty much sums up 40 years of Moses' life, and if God can use Moses, despite his well dodgy past, God can certainly use you.
You see, sometimes with the past it's best just to get over it. Don't let your history haunt you; get over it! Don't let your hurts rent too much brain space; get over it! Don't take a round the world guilt trip; get over it!
Paul writes, 'In every thing give thanks.' In everything? Surely not. Are we to give thanks when a close mate has stitched us up? Are we to be thankful when we're feeling desperately lonely? What about when the bottom has fallen out of our lives; do we say a big, cheesy 'Thanks' then too?
Actually, something bizarre happens when we focus on the thanks despite how we're feeling. God meets us, and circumstances may not change, but our hearts do. God loves an attitude of faith. The Bible is full of stories of broken people in nasty situations who come out the other end of it doing pretty amazing things. Don't let situations give you a headache, let them get you closer to God. Give thanks, get God, and get out of the past.
