FATHERS DAY: A fathers love
'YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN DOES NOT WANT ANY OF THESE LITTLE ONES TO BE LOST.' MATTHEW 18:14
In the opening scenes of the film Finding Nemo, Marlon and Coral - a pair of clown fish are watching their fish spawn grow like every proud fish parents would. At this point a massive evil fish comes along, attacks the mini marine family and all that's left is the father Marlon and his last surviving egg; - who grows into Nemo.
As Nemo grows up Marlon is hugely protective and in a rebellious streak one day, Nemo is captured and put into a dentist's marine fish tank. So what did Marlon do? Nemo isn't even in the sea anymore and there's no way Marlon can really rescue him. But, where most fathers would have stopped there and given up, Marlon chased. He swam across the sea from the Great Barrier Reef to Sydney Harbour. He was chased by sharks, swallowed by a whale, rode the East Australian Current with a bunch of turtles and somehow, found his way back to Nemo. He never gave up, even when things were at their bleakest.
Maybe you've got a great dad who would cross the ocean to find you, or maybe you're dad wouldn't even notice you're gone. Maybe you no longer have a dad, either way, not many of us are blessed enough to have earthly fathers who would search an ocean for you - but your Heavenly Father would. No matter what your dad is like remember today that you've got a loving Father who has stopped at nothing to save you, even sacrificing His own son. As we honour fathers today, don't forget to give God all the love and praise He deserves.
