BE A STRONG EXAMPLE
'IN EVERYTHING SET THEM AN EXAMPLE BY DOING WHAT IS GOOD' TITUS 2:7
Millions of young people all over the world dream of playing sport for their country. Maybe you've pictured yourself in the changing room before a big game. You pull on your kit, proud to be one of the few chosen to wear your nation's colours, to represent your country. As you step out onto the pitch, track or court you're hit with an explosion of colour and noise as your home crowd cheers you on.
Then the game starts, and millions of eyes start to WATCH! Just like playing for your country, it's a massive honour to be picked by God to be on His team. 'You are the ones chosen by God' (1 Peter 2:9 MSG) but also you've got lots of people watching you. Anyone who knows you knows you're a Christian. They know you're wearing God's kit and colours and want to know what you play like.
In the Bible, when Jesus picked the twelve guys would form His 'dream team' He didn't give them an interview first followed by a contract to sign, He simply said 'Follow me'. He wanted them to hang out with Him and be in His crew but He also wanted them to be LIKE HIM. To do what He did, to follow His example. With people at school, home and youth group all watching you, it's important to set them an example in doing good. They notice when you foul or cheat! Each day pray that you will play like Jesus,and set an example by following His example.
