An unlikely platform

''...USING THE BOAT FOR A PULPIT, HE TAUGHT THE CROWD.'' LUKE 5:3

Luke writes: 'He climbed into the boat...using the boat for a pulpit, he taught the crowd' (Luke 5:2-3 TM). When you read the Bible you see that Jesus had a knack of making the most of absolutely every opportunity.

Instead of getting freaked out by the crowds nearly pushing Him into the lake He just hops into a boat and brings His words of wisdom from a new vantage point. But it never would've happened if the guy who's boat this was, Peter, had got all shirty about it. Can you imagine? 'Hang about mate, what d'you think your doin' in my boat, I've had a rough night and then last thing I need is you and your fan club wrecking my beach.'

Later in his life Peter wrote: '...You are royal priests...As a result, you can show others the goodness of God...' (1 Peter 2:9 NLT). So how does that fit in with the boat story? Well, what does a priest do? He represents God to people - and you're supposed to do that too - every minute of every day!

Yes, there should be no time or place when Jesus can't use your life as a platform to communicate his amazing love.

Listen to what Paul says, 'Let every detail in your lives - words, actions, whatever - be done in the name of the Master, Jesus...' (Colossians 3:17 TM).

Old preacher Henry Giles once said, 'There is no task so low that we may not elevate it; so dull that we may not enliven it if we understand that what we are doing is service to our Lord Jesus Christ.' So, the word 4U 2day is - be a platform for Jesus.
