God saves those that know Him, trust Him, need Him, accept Him, depend on Him, Thank Him, Glorify Him etc... If you know Him you do His will. If you do His will you know His word.
Why doesn't someone make a poll that asks, "Who thinks the Bible has a lot of wasteful scriptures in it that we can ignore and still be saved?"
Many ingredients.....one plan.
And just for the record, Christ had not yet died when the thief on the cross was promised paradise...
Years ago the argument was do we really need the baptism of the Holy Spirit to be saved? The best answer I heard way back then was, I'd rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Same might apply here too...then we can get down to the serious question of what formula for baptism...
Titles versus Jesus name...:wink:

The Apostle Paul told us to "work out your salvation in fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good pleasure" (Php 2:12-13 NIV). Contrary to what some believe, this scripture does not support the concept of salvation by works. I believe it challenges us to allow the Spirit to work in us to grow us as believers so that our salvation will produce more than just us escaping the fires of Hell; that we can be beacons of light to draw people to Jesus.
There are no wasted scriptures. The entire Bible is a tool God gives us to use as we strive to grow as believers through the power of the Holy Spirit. While there are many verses in Scripture that we do not understand the interpretation of or the purpose of right now, it is critical that we strive to come to a fuller understanding of the verses we think we already know, then God will draw us deeper into the Word and some of the verses we took lightly will spring to life; we'll begin to have those "Aha !" moments when previously confusing or misunderstood verses are opened for our understanding by the Spirit of God (see Lk 24:13-31).

Hmmm.. Consider them who are unskillful in the things of God as ignorant to the Truth and them that are wise Now, as being foolish. For the wisdom of man profited nothing neither does it avail to the things of God.
I don't think there is need to be running around the bush when there are many things pertaining to godliness one can devote himself to, than to keep repeating thread on the same issues which has already been dealt with.
I'm not trying to obey the scriptures but, all I want to do is to obey what His Spirit saith to the Church.. Like I said in many thread, so will I repeat it here: There is nothing we can do against the Truth than the Truth... If Baptism is not important or part of Salvation experience, Jesus would not have done it and commanded the Apostle to do it for People that Believed, the Apostle would also have neglected it and speaks only of Repentance without adding Baptism to it and Bible would not have recorded such a thing.
The only person that did not do Baptism in the Bible was the Thief on the Cross and that was before Christ death.
Heb 5:8-14
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age(Mature), even those who by reason of use have their senses (Spiritual Senses) exercised to discern both good and evil.
Do you know what born-again is all about? It's all about Obeying the Lord TOTALLY.
Heb 6:1-3
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3 And this will we do, if God permit.
God will not permit you and I to be matured (Perfect) until He has taught us the principles of the doctrine of Christ ,which are:
1.repentance from dead works
2.faith toward God
3.doctrine of baptisms
4.laying on of hands
5.resurrection of the dead
6.eternal judgment
Does those principle comes before you are born-again? Nay!!! It is after born-again experience. Do we hear about them today, I don't think so.. For men has replaced them with their Denominational Doctrines...
These are basically the Foundational Teaching of Christ.... and You know what? when we missed the foundation we missed everything.
I think the subject or the Topic of this thread should be "How should Baptism be done and in What Name" not
May the Lord Help us to see as He sees..... May our eye be open and our heart enlighten in Jesus name.
May He also deliver us from RELIGION and give us LIFE, and whatsoever things we hold on to dearly than Him, may He de-rope us and deliver us in Jesus name. So that we may see eye to eye and become His bride indeed. Amen

No one ever said that any parts of the scriptures are wasteful, but not all parts of the scriptures are instructions to 'how to get saved'. Water baptism is one of those things that you should strive for, but that doesn't mean you can't get saved if you're not baptised.
You do know I was being sarcastic, you don't really think I would suggest that for real??

If someone does not understand a scripture, they need to earnestly pray for understanding...time is of the essence.
So many seem to blow off the Bible as a whole book, as if God has somehow changed who He is...Who is God? What are His characteristics? What did He stress over and over? Why have they become comfortable living in La La Land where God approves of misunderstanding or the 'so what' attitude?
It just seems that many 'Christians' have recreated the creator, and they are fine with that, I guess people think if God does not strike them dead on the spot, they must be in His will. I really wish there would come a revival of every individual, willing to re-evaluate what they live as compared to what God actually meant, what the scripture means.
