The Sower?

The Sower?

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for WHATSOEVER A MAN SOWETH, THAT SHALL HE ALSO REAP.

This concept is the most basic of all Christian beliefs. You do not even have to believe anything for this to work. Whatever a man sows, that is what he is going to reap.

Gal 6:8 For he that SOWETH TO HIS FLESH shall OF THE FLESH reap corruption, but HE THAT SOWETH TO THE SPIRIT shall OF THE SPIRIT reap life everlasting.

Not only is it important “what” we sow, but it is also important where to sow it! Sowing to the flesh we reap corruption. Sowing to the Spirit we reap life everlasting. Notice who is going to cause us to reap. It will either be “by the flesh” which causes corruption, or it is by the Spirit which causes life.

When we think of sowing we know that “seeds” is what is sown. In the natural world, a farmer does not just sow a seed into the ground and then walk away from it until its fruit comes to maturity. It needs watering every day, and protection from anything that could uproot the seed to stop its growth.

Jesus tells us what the “seed” is we are supposed to sow if we want to reap from the Spirit life.

Mark 4:14 The sower soweth the word.

The Word of God is the only good seed we are to sow!
Who is the one that supplies to us this seed?

Sowing to the Spirit is the same thing as “adding to our faith”(2 Peter 1:5) The word “add” means, “to supply” We are to supply to our faith “virtue”. Virtue means “ moral excellency, perfection, Glory” The only thing that is “morally excellent”, “perfect”, and full of Glory” is the Word of God who is the Glory of the Father.

Heb 4:12 For THE WORD OF GOD IS QUICK, AND POWERFUL, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

What spirit are we to sow to?

2Co 4:13 WE HAVING THE SAME SPIRIT OF FAITH, according to as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

It is impossible to have faith without speaking because “faith” comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God!!! (Romans 10:17) What comes? The spirit of faith!!!

Faith is a spirit and the spirit of faith comes when it hears the Word of God.
The “seed” that God provides us is the Word of God which the spirit of faith receives from the sower!!!

If you have faith you will always speak God's Word. If you have no faith then you don't say anything.
We supply to our faith the Word of God. We sow to the spirit the Word of God.

Faith without works is dead. (James 2:17)

The works that faith produces comes from the Word that describes the work faith is to perform!!!
It is also the same Word from which faith comes!!!

Faith without works is exactly the same thing as a building contractor who builds things for a living, but has not been given a job to build anything!!! It's dead!!!

Sowing to the spirit of faith is an ongoing job that is supposed to happen every single day. Speaking the Word is watering the seed already sown until it bears its fruit!

Not only can faith move mountains, it can also move people to do, and say things they would not normally do! Whatever is not of “faith” is “sin” (Romans 14:23)

1Pe 3:10 For HE THAT WILL LOVE LIFE, AND SEE GOOD DAYS, let him REFRAIN HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL, and his lips that they speak no guile:

Whatever is spoken not of faith is a sin, which is evil. If is not of faith then it is only sowing to the flesh, which of the flesh produces only corruption!

1Co 3:7 So neither HE WHO PLANTS NOR HE WHO WATERS IS ANYTHING, but only God who gives the growth.
1Co 3:8 HE WHO PLANTS AND HE WHO WATERS ARE ONE, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. (ESV)

Sometimes we might “sow” a “seed” into a person's heart by the spirit of faith. Then there are times we might simply water that “seed” with the same word that has already been planted by another person.
Then there are times we might reap what others have sown by leading a person to Christ.

When it comes to reaping, the sower, the one who waters, and the reaper can be the same person!!
