Open a Bible like my KJV at Leviticus 14 and read: 'And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.'
The demand to sprinkle blood on the Mercy Seat once a year was that it symbolically erased all the previous year's sins.
The ark disappeared during the destruction of the First Temple in 587 BC by the Babylonians.
It has still not been returned although Ron Wyatt was privileged to view it in its hiding place in Jerusalem.
By today the Jews have racked up 587 plus 2025 = 2612 years worth of sins!
When Jesus visited the temple he was perfectly aware that the ark was not in the Holy of Holies and the chief priest was performing a mock ceremony and lying! by pretending to sprinkle blood on the mercy seat.
He may have popped into the holy of holies the same way he met the disciples in the upper room - by dematerialising and rematerialising his body.
The chief priest had to keep him from publicising the ark's absence and their lies.
But on crucifixion day at the moment Christ died invisible angels ripped the holy of holies thick veil open to show there was no ark!
