So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. Galatians 6:9
If you’ve ever watched a tree bear fruit or tended a garden for a summer, you’re familiar with the mundane, everyday tasks of watering, weeding, pruning, and guarding against pests. In the same way, it’s not easy to live your faith every day without any harvest in the immediate future. There’s only faithfulness and a future hope of a reward from God—a reward that you can’t quite imagine.
God’s promise to you may not be as tangible and in front of you as a garden, but it’s certainly more reliable. If you continue to faithfully love others, seek justice, and obey the Holy Spirit’s direction, there will be a harvest. Your daily faithfulness will pay off, but you may not see it for quite some time. In fact, it’s possible that others will benefit far more from your daily faithfulness.
As you submit yourself to become a branch of God’s vine, you simplify your daily tasks, only concerning yourself with obedience to what God has called you to do. You aren’t in charge of the results. You aren’t in a competition with anyone. You only have your small part to play as you trust God with your daily concerns.
