Paul said that the powers that be are of God, that means the good powers and the bad powers. Even the Serpent was created by God to fulfill His will, and His purpose. The Devil is not running amuck in the world totally out of control, as the Devil can only do as much as the Lord allows him to do. We saw this in the story of Job, where Satan was only allowed to do as much as God would allow. It is the same with evil world leaders and governments, they are only allowed to reign and stay in power as long as God allows it. God said in Isaiah that He created the waster to Destroy. God also said in Isaiah that He forms the light, and creates darkness: He makes peace, and creates evil. God says in Deuteronomy that He kills, and He can make alive again, He wounds, and He heals. Many may not understand this, but this wicked world has been under God’s judgment ever since Jesus announced it right before going to the cross.
Satan was cast out of heaven at that time, and down to the earth. He is also a part of God’s judgment and wrath upon a wicked world. This is why this world is in such distress and perplexity as Jesus described. Jesus said he did not pray for this world, but only for those who the Father had given him. Jesus prayed that the Father would keep us from evil and the evil one. Those who seek the Lord by faith and are sealed by God’s Spirit and are given the full armour of God’s protection from the spirit of the Devil, and other evil spirits from entering into their house. But if they depart from the faith, that protection is gone, and they are wide open to attack. But even still, many of God’s saints were purposed to be made a living sacrifice and to be killed according to God’s will. It is hard to understand why God would allow evil to reign on this earth for so long. But understand, God is in complete control, and He will put and end to it when He decides to do so, rest assured.
In John 19:10-11 Pilate said to Jesus “Speakest thou not unto me? Knowest thou not that I have the power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?” Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above:”
If we are purposed to pass through the fire to get to the Lord on the other side, I say bring on the fire! Father, let thy will be done.
Peace and God bless
