Summary of Revelation 18-21
The harlot (the great prostitute), Babylon the Great, will be judged by God. And what comes next in Revelation 19 is the Marriage of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, to his bride, the saints of God. Although by faith in Jesus Christ we are already married to Christ, it is more like the Jewish marriage where the bride and groom did not consummate the marriage until the groom had prepared a place for them to live and he came to take his wife to be with him forever. So right now we are waiting for our Lord’s return for his bride.
Then there will be a war begun by the beast and the kings of the earth against Jesus Christ. But Jesus will win, and the beast and the false prophet will be thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. Then an angel of God will seize the dragon (Satan, the devil) and bind him for a thousand years. But after the thousand years he is to be released for a brief period of time. And all who did not worship the beast, but who worshipped God/Christ, will come alive and they will reign with Christ for a thousand years.
After the thousand years, Satan will be released and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth, but fire will come down from heaven to consume his army and he will be thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur. There Satan, the beast, and the false prophet will be tormented day and night forever and ever. And then there will be the great white throne judgment. The Book of Life will be opened and the dead will be judged according to their deeds, i.e. by if we obeyed God or not. And anyone whose name was not in the Book of Life will be thrown into the lake of fire.
Then there will be a new heaven and a new earth. And the Holy City, the new Jerusalem (not physical Jerusalem) will come down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And the dwelling place of God will be with his people who followed him in obedience, and who died to their sins, when they lived on the earth. And he will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things will have passed away. Hallelujah! Praise God!
Revelation 21:5-8,26-27 BSB (Berean Standard Bible)
5And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.” 6And He told me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life. 7The one who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son. 8But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”
“26And into the city will be brought the glory and honor of the nations. 27But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who practices an abomination or a lie, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”
Wrapping it All Up
Now, if you find all or most or some of this difficult to understand, don’t feel bad. It is difficult to comprehend it all. And we have absolutely no control over most all of this, anyway, so what we need to mainly focus on here is what the main thing is for us to know and to do. And that has to do with what God requires of us who profess faith in Jesus Christ in thought, word, and deed. For Jesus taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin) and follow him in obedience. For if sin is what we obey, and not God, we will not have eternal life with God.
For the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, not with God. For nothing unclean (spiritually, morally) will ever enter into the kingdom of God. No one who practices an abomination or a lie will be able to enter in. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Only those who by faith in Jesus have died to sin and who are obeying our Lord, in life practice, in his power, will have the hope of salvation from sin and eternal life with God.

You shall be called My witnesses
Unto Me in Jerusalem.
Harken to Me, won’t you believe
Jesus is calling you home?
Trust in Your Lord and God to save
Everyone who trusts His name.
Let everyone who says he’s saved
Honor and magnify My name.
Won’t you believe in Me today?
I have provided the Way.
I lay My life down for your soul.
Won’t you trust Me to make you whole?
Oh, how I love and care for you.
Would you abide with Me in truth?
Listen to Me, now hear My plea,
Won’t you trust Me with your all?
I gave My life, so you go free.
Won’t you bow down on bended knee?
