The Names of God
This is a list of God's Names I have compiled. Please feel free to add to the list.

Note- In the original Hebrew there was no letter J but a Y was typically used. I opted to stay with the English translation found in most concordances

THE NAMES OF GOD

First are the nine compound Names of God. The Hebrews could not fully comprehend or describe God so they gave Him Names that described His attributes.

BAALI - HOSEA 2:16- MY LORD

ADONAY- DEUTERONOMY 10:17- LORD AND FATHER

ADONE HA ADONIM- DEUTERONOMY 10:17- LORD OF LORDS

EL ELYON- GENESIS 14:22- GOD MOST HIGH

EL SHADDAI- GENESIS 17:1- THE GOD ALMIGHTY

ANIY HAYAH- I AM- EXODUS 3:14- I EXIST (LITERALLY THE SELF EXISTANT ETERNAL GOD)

ELOHIM- GENESIS 2:4- GREAT , JUDGE, ANGEL BUT WITH THE DEFINITIVE ARTICLE SUPREME GOD

EL ELOE- GENESIS 33:20- THE GOD OF JACOB

JAH- PSALM 68:4- THE SACRED NAME- THE LORD MOST VEHEMENT

QANNA - EXODUS 34:14- JEALOUS

ELOI- MARK 15:34- MY GOD

ABBA- MARK 14:36- FATHER

EMMANUEL- MATTHEW 1:23- GOD WITH US

KURIOUS- LORD- Luk 12:42

JEHOSHUA-MATTHEW 3:15 - JESUS -JOSHUA- GOD SAVESThis is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Joshua, which was originally Hoshea (Num_13:8, Num_13:16), but changed by Moses into Jehoshua (Num_13:16; 1Ch_7:27), or Joshua. After the Exile it assumed the form Jeshua, whence the Greek form JESUS. It was given to our Lord to denote the object of his mission, to save (Mat_1:21). ( COURTESY EASTON BIBLE DICTIONARY)

The Hebrews could not fully comprehend or describe God...

Neither can I, but I like to call Him Father ...and what a Father He is! Praise His name, and names, forever!


Rom 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"

Gal 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"


Rev 10:5 And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, that there would be no more delay, but that in the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, the mystery of God would be fulfilled, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.
