1. The Lost
Spiritual condition: Without salvation, alienated from God.
Includes people who don’t know God, reject Him, or are trapped in sin.
Could be wealthy or poor, visible or invisible — their core issue is spiritual.
2. The Least
Social/hierarchical condition: Those considered unimportant or insignificant in the eyes of society.
Often refers to the poor, powerless, children, the disabled, or others at the bottom of the social ladder.
Biblical connection: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." (Matthew 25:40)
It’s not just about being ignored — it’s about being ranked low in value.
3. The Overlooked
Relational/recognitional condition: Those who go unseen, unnoticed, or are ignored — even if they’re not at the very bottom of society.
Can include the lonely, the quiet, the socially awkward, or even someone successful who still feels invisible.
Not necessarily poor or powerless, but forgotten or neglected in some way.
Jesus often noticed people others ignored — like the woman who touched His cloak (Luke 8:43–48) or Zacchaeus in the tree (Luke 19:1–10).
