"Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matt 18:18 KJV)
"Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Mat 18:18 NRSVue)
The standard translations of Matt 18:18 are very misleading in that they give the impression that God is bound to what man in the church says. The literal translations show that the binding and loosing of the church, is true and solid if the binding and loosing is in agreement with Christ's law; as shown by giving the past tense.

WHY DOES THIS MATTER? It keeps in check the dictatorial Vatican or a dictatorial independent, fundamentalist preacher.
