That is why the Levites have no share of property or possession of land among the other Israelite tribes. The LORD himself is their special possession, as the LORD your God told them.) Deuteronomy 10:9 NLT
Are you going to inherit a classic car, a painting by Caravaggio, a vintage book, some land or money?
Maybe you’ve inherited some things already.
An inheritance can provide you with things to celebrate and talk about. Even those without parents understand the happiness an inheritance can provide. So what kind of inheritance are you leaving?
The Levites were an Old Testament family who refused to worship a golden calf their relatives had made while Moses was receiving the Ten Commandments. Because of their love for God, the Lord gave the Levites more than the inheritance of their relatives—He made Himself their inheritance.
You could leave a car or a painting or you could leave those things and something more. Moses wrote: “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds….Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 11:18-19).
Living “these words” in the ordinary moments of every day will help you leave the kind of legacy that lasts.
Prayer: Lord, help me to model Your words to those who come after me so that I can leave the kind of legacy that matters.
