And I set my face to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes; Daniel 9:3 AMPC
Daniel knew that the prophecies speaking of the length of the Babylonian captivity meant that the people who had been captives for nearly seventy years would one day go home. He had been a captive himself and longed for his people to go home. Daniel took the time to pray, speaking of the day his people would go free. His prayer was engaging—a powerful example of a prayer of the unshaken.
At the end of the prayer? God was ready to let Daniel see what would happen in the future. God wanted Daniel to write down what he saw for others to read. What Daniel saw was very different from anything he had seen before. Daniel was ready, and God shared what the prophet never could have known on his own.
You might not hear from God directly, but prayer is an indicator that you take your relationship with Him seriously, that you’re learning to be bold in approaching Him with respect, and that you believe He has the ability to answer your prayer.
Prayer: God, there’s so much I don’t know and so much You can teach me. If You’re willing, I’m ready to listen. Help me learn what I can at this stage in my faith walk. Then teach me more.
