The Gospel of Judas?

One is A Devil!

If anyone wonders about the Gospel of Judas, remember Luke 22:3 " Then entered satan into Judas surname Iscaroit, being of twelve in number". Satan and Jesus did not conspire together, but satan and Judas did. There will come a time where we as Christians should not waver, but stand firmly on the word of God.

Amen to you sister!

Look at these passages of scripture brethren:

John 6:70: Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen
you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

John 6:71: He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon:
for he it was that should betray him, being one
of the twelve.

Matt. 27:3: Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when
he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and
brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief
priests and elders.

Matt 27:5: And he cast down the pieces of silver in the
temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Matt. 27:6: And the chief priests took the silver pieces,
and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury,
because it is the price of blood.

Matt. 27:7: And they took counsel, and bought with them
the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

[1] Jesus said Judas was a 'devil' not a comrade of the Lord!

[2] Jesus spoke of 'Judas's' devilish [ungodly] mission- 'to
betray [The Son of God] Him!

[3] Prophecy fulfilled! The Betrayal! Judas never repented
toward God!

[4] Judas went out and committed 'suicide' by hanging
himself! He 'killed' himself, dead!

[5] Judas was 'buried' in the potter's field! Dead, Gone
and Buried!

Jesus would have to have been an out and out liar after
He foreknew, prophesied and condemned Judas Iscariot,
according to this piece of 'gnostic' satanic garbage!

Then calling Judas, this betrayer of Christ as close 'friend'!

Thank God Our Lord 'never' sinned, lied, deceived and
as this manuscript suggests!

2Cor. 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness
of God in him.

1Peter 2:22: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in
his mouth.

God Bless,

Your brother in Christ,

Joe

I been hearing and seeing alot of hype about this Gospel of Judas thing, and when I read an overview of what's written in it, I was like 'wow.' It's so way off from the real bible. But I think the key here is this: If you, as a Christian, read the bible and get to know Jesus, then it would be pretty easy to spot these other false 'gospels.'
I just pray that no one gets deceived into thinking it's really written by the Holy Spirit, but I'm afraid some already have.

Its a marketing ploy... its to get the D' vinchi code more and more people to see it.. also helps to continue and add to the belief that this is real and true because alot of people think if ya read it enough it must be true.. if only they wold pick up there bible and read the real TRUTH!!!!!!!

Article from: gotquestions.org

Sometime in the 1970s, in a cave in Egypt, a copy of the “gospel of Judas” was discovered. The circumstances of the discovery have been described as shady, with those who possessed the copy asking for exorbitant amounts of money for the codex. For decades, no institution was willing to pay for the purchase due to its dubious origins. Eventually the codex of the gospel of Judas was purchased by a foundation in Switzerland. The existence of the gospel of Judas codex was made public in 2004, but the actual release of the content of the codex has been repeatedly delayed, with the now expected release date of April 2006. The dating of the gospel of Judas codex is likely the 5th century A.D. According to various accounts, up to one third of the codex is missing or illegible.

Prior to this discovery, the only reference to the gospel of Judas was in the writings of a 2nd century Christian named Irenaeus. Irenaeus essentially wrote that the gospel of Judas was the “invented history” of a long line of heretics and rebels against God. The essential message of the gospel of Judas is that Jesus wanted Judas to betray Him because it was necessary to fulfill Jesus’ plan. If it was Jesus' plan for Judas to betray Him, why would Jesus label Judas the "son of perdition" (John 17:12), and state that it would have been better if Judas had never been born (Matthew 26:24). If Judas were simply following Jesus' instructions, why would he commit suicide once he saw that Jesus was condemned (Matthew 27:5)?

The gospel of Judas is a Gnostic gospel, espousing a Gnostic viewpoint of Christianity. The gospel of Judas is simply a heretical forgery, much the same as the gospel of Thomas, the gospel of Mary, and the gospel of Philip. Just as Judas Iscariot rejected Jesus and betrayed Him with a kiss, the gospel of Judas rejects the true Gospel and truth of God with a fraudulent appearance of validity.

Amen. Amen

I dont know if this was mentioned, but the old testament speaks of the betrayal of Christ, right down to how much money he was betrayed for, how could a prophet/prophets (ie King David, Zechariah) make this prophecy if it was a lie, if it was a lie, it came true... therefore proving it wasn't a lie. Plus Zechariah didnt say Christ would tell Judas to betray him, it says he would do it for money.. thirty pieces of silver to be exact. This prophecy is older than both Christ and Judas, so it came true according to the way it was prophecied...just like the rest of the prophecies of Christ came true, so did this, without anything being added. Old testament prophecy is proof, that this so called Gospel of Judas is a lie, and that he did betray Christ as it is written. That all might be fulfilled according to the prophets. This Gospel of Judas is only one false witness... the prophets are more than one.

We would like the scripture to support your statement Fellowservant, please. I believe you, but would like to read it myself :)

Zec 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give [me] my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty [pieces] of silver.
Zec 11:13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty [pieces] of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

Mat 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
Mat 27:4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What [is that] to us? see thou [to that].
Mat 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
Mat 27:6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
Mat 27:7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
Mat 27:8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
Mat 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
Mat 27:10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

King David also prophecied about this betrayal... in the Psalms.

Psa 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me.

John 13:18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

God bless

Fellowservant,

Wow, that's so awesome that what Judas did was right in scripture in the OT. How can anyone deny Jesus is the Christ? It's all in the scriptures, that's really neat!

As it says, one of Christ followers would betray him... why? only God knows why, God allows these things but no one dare ask him why, shall the thing formed say to the one who formed it, why have you made me like this? (Read Romans Chapter 9) As God said about the Pharaoh of Egypt during the Exodus, i have raised you up just for this purpose, to show my power in thee. So God choses to do what he does, and no man can question him. Why? because he's God, and has power over the clay. So some will say did they have free will? yes they did.. in the end they did what they did, and can't say God forced them to do it. I can harden my heart, and so can God... but i still have a free will to do what i do. The thing about this is.. God knows before hand what you are going to do. It would be like blaming Satan for your sin on judgement day. This is why repentance toward God is so important...

YES!!! I totaly agree with what you have said here. This whole controversey with "why God chooses to do what He does, and why certain things happen" has come up numerous times in life....
But your post has definetly cleared things up!
All of that is so true, and even if we could question God, we definetly wouldnt be able to fathom His reasoning, because He is GOD and we are human, there are just those many things He does that are impossible to understand in our puny human brains. And this is totaly alright, because we werent made to understand everything, thats the whole point of being human! If this wasnt the case, life would be boring, in my opinion.

Furthermore, all of the other information you posted about this "gospel" of Judas was very informative, as was this thread.
Thank you all.

God Bless.

no one knows who even wrote the Gospel of Judas

Judas obviously did not write it

It a complete non-factor and non-threat. Though it is interesting and I do have it on my shelves

This book his no validitory evidence behind it as far as being a trustworthy narrative of the life of Christ

Dont belive me? Look into it

I believe John 20:24 may give Thomas's last name as Didymus.
Also Mark 3:17 says....James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder)
just a couple offhand...hope that helps.
