"Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces; now he will heal us. He has injured us; now he will bandage our wounds. In just a short time he will restore us, so that we may live in his presence. Hosea 6:1-2 NLT
Good parents know that as important as discipline is to bringing up their children, restoration is also essential. Without restoration, the parent/child relationship can remain strained, even to the point of fracturing over time. With restoration, the child can know that the parent meted out the discipline out of real love and not just anger.
Our Father in heaven isn’t just a good Father—He’s the perfect Father. When He disciplines us, it’s out of His perfect love for us. And when that time of discipline has passed, He invites us back into His presence—where we can know we are fully restored forgiven, and loved.
Are you going through a time of discipline right now? You can endure it, knowing that God will restore you into full loving fellowship with Himself. He loves you too much to do anything different.
Prayer: Lord, like any loving father, You’ve disciplined me in the past when I’ve strayed from Your ways. But when You’ve done that, You’ve also reached down to me and restored me so that I could again know the joy of Your presence. Thank You!
