"Thine is............the glory, for ever,Amen" - Matthew 6: 13

Someone has said that a concern for the glory of God is the most powerful motivation in the work of the Christian Church. Is that your great concern,....the glory of God?

Rev. Leslie Weatherhead tells how on one occasion he went to the Royal Albert Hall, London, with his saintly father-in-law. to hear a great choir and a great orchestra rendering Handel,s Messiah. They came to the climax of that great work with the singing of the Hallelujah Chorus, and that tremendous anthem of praise and worship, glorifying God, rang out: 'Hallelujah! hallelujah! King of kings and Lord of lords! Hallelujah!' When the music died away Dr. Weatherhead turned to look at his father-in-law standing beside him, and his face was alight, and tears were just pouring down his cheeks; and he turned to Dr. Weatherhead and said. "Its my Saviour they're singing about!"

He is worthy of glory and adoration and obedience and sacrifice. Concern for the glory of God. Somehow I feel if we could take these familiar words and weave them into the pattern of our living, we should find our feet on the path to a life of effectiveness and loveliness that will commend the Saviour.

'Thine is the kingdom';...controlled by the will of God. 'Thine is the power';... confident in the power of God. 'Thine is the glory':... concerned for the glory of God. You've said these words ten thousand times. Would you be willing to say them, and to mean them, and live them, and to go out and find that this is the way that will bring you into fullness of life, and bring others into the same life through Christ?

It seems to me that if we regularly DECIDE to love God and grow in our understanding of Him, concern for His glory will develop automatically over time; it grows out of appreciation of who and what He truly is.
