The Fitting End Of Dark Days
At last, the time is here,
When I no longer fear,
A sincere display of compassion
Lost to the world but found in God.
Strike me once
And I open up for more.
Strike me again
And I won't beg you to stop.
But then what is a little pain,
Just a sense I can neglect,
You drive the nails,
I don't even plead for my life.
The pain fades, but my sorrow doubles,
My heart melts like wax,
Tears soak my face
Leaving streaks in the grime.
I am cursed above all,
Suspended in the sky
Faceted to a wretched tree,
Mocked by the unforgiven.
I drink bitter wine, dying slowly,
While to all I appear to have failed.
But only my mortal body breaks,
As I waste away on the cross.
The sky turns dark,
How much longer must I suffer?
I do this for you,
