But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. "For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. John 5:17, 19-20 NKJV

After God the Father speaks and the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus at His baptism, readers might be tempted to think Jesus was pretty much on His own here on earth. After all, that’s how most men live their lives.

But make no mistake: Jesus was anything but a rugged individualist. Just the opposite!

In the key verses above, Jesus said He was unable to do anything, anywhere, on His own. Jesus only did things where He observed the Father already at work. That was true of His miracles, parables, sin-forgiveness, teachings, and travels. He journeyed throughout the twelve tribes of Israel, repeatedly crossing national borders. Back and forth. Here and there. Always, always following the Father’s directions.

Unlike Jesus, do you tend to live as a rugged individualist? Either way, now are you will to pray like Jesus?

Prayer: Our Father in heaven,, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

In your post here. This section of this text caught my eye!

“and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.”

Just wondering is that a “Future Indicative statement” for “us the whole redeem”

Because sometimes the translations of a text might have lost something but really didn’t!. For GOD can leave enough room that one can peep between the Sewing thread .

If you can feel what I mean. Not taking away from the text. But it seem to peep out at me. :joy:

If that is True, Oh. What a wonder that would be!

Since Jesus created the Universe , Heaven, Angels and the rest of that stuff. God taught him how to do it.

Now GOD is going to show him some greater stuff!
“eyes has not seen”, nor ears have heard, nor entered into the heart of man:eyes:

If this is true, look out! Now that would be a “Marvel” !:eyes:

Hey anything happen on earth during these last days of mines, don’t excite me, even if one rise from the Dead! That’s old news! I need something new!
Like “Eyes has not seen nor ears have heard”

Do you understand what I am talking about!

I want something brand new and I don’t mean a new car!, a new woman, a new house or new pair of shoes! I want a “Marvel”!:joy:

and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.

Dear Brother, @PloughBoy
I'd be happy to name the name of Jesus Christ without getting a squirrely look!
One thing I do look forward too, besides the New Heaven & New Earth, is being next to folks who don't mind praising His Holy Name and mean it!!!

Truth be told I look at the Heavens when they aren't blocked off at night by satellites, and I marvel, I look at the seas and the variety of life, and I marvel!
There is still so much to marvel out here brother, and even in each other, though sadly that's harder to come by.

Still, I rejoice in folks like you Brother. :)

With the Love of Christ Jesus. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
