Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him--but some of them doubted! Matthew 28:16-17 NLT
You’ve probably been to the funeral of someone you love. You were sad. You wished that person was still with you. But you don’t expect someone to say they came back to life. Jesus’ disciples experienced this. Some held back. Some were unwilling to take the risk to be unshakable—even though Jesus had said not only that He would die but also that He would rise again.
It’s easy to ignore the unbelievable. Saying, “God said it, so I believe it,” can be difficult—even though that’s the right response.
Once the dubious, doubting disciples say Jesus, they experienced an internal shift that caused their doubt to evaporate.
When you find yourself doubting what you said you believed, read Matthew 28 again. Jesus did what you can’t—so when He asks you to do something He knows you can’t do, He’s telling you that there’s no reason to doubt the outcome. Stand unshaken. God is with you.
Prayer: God, the Bible is filled with real people, and the only difference between some of their choices and mine is You. I can’t think of a good story in Your Word that doesn’t include You.
