The Concern Of Mary And Martha;Jn 11:3-5
Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. 4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. 5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus

Mary and Martha believed Jesus would heal their brother because HE loved him so deeply. And they were sure He had the power to do so.
The sister words to Jesus are beautifully simple. They gave no details of Lazaru`s condition and didn`t manipulate the Lord to do anything specific. They simply appealed to their Lord`s love for Lazarus and in humble faith made known his need (1 Peter 5:7 ).
Christ`s reply that the brother`s illness would not result in death did not mean he wouldn`t die, but that death wouldn`t be the final outcome. Sometimes sickness and death are God`s will for believers, and Lazarus`s situation would bring glory to both the Father and the Son ( John 9:3;12:23,38 ).
Given Jesus close relationship with Mary, Martha and Lazarus, it is puzzling He did not go to Bethany. Instead, He " stayed two days longer in the place where He was (11:6 )." This was a delay not to allow the brother to die- he had likely already passed away. The delay does however highlight several divine purposes:it forced the sisters to wait and strenthen their faith through trust in Jesus; it showede that Lazarus was really dead and that Jesus raising him would be a miracle; and it again demonsrated that our Lord ministers according to His timetable, not ours.
Ask yourself
Are you boldly, bravely trying to exercise your faith durning a difficult sisuation, yet finding that your trust and patience is seeming to go unheeded?
And remember that God alone knows how long this season must last. Keep waiting, keep believing. He is doing His work where you cannot see it.
