We are the church! If the Holy Spirit dwells within you, your family members, your friends, whoever He lives in-we are all the church. We are the church means we are a group of born again believers. We can live anywhere in the world. The church building is the place where believers gather to worship God. Believers learn about God and learn from Him. They are then to go out into the world and teach others what they've learned. If a born again believer has not found a church building that teaches about Jesus and His finished work at the cross, they can gather in someone's home or really anywhere to worship God and His truths in the Bible. Matthew 18:20 says, For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
You are the church. You are the temple of God. We are the temple of God and He put feet on us and says go unto the world to preach the gospel to every creature. That's the responsibility of the church, to go out and take the message of what Christ did for us at the cross. Your body, the temple of God meets with other temples of God to worship and honor Him. We gather together to thank God for saving us from our sins through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. We thank God for His Word (the Bible) which teaches us the principles of God. We thank Him for the Holy Spirit Who helps us understand Scripture and live a holy life.
God the Son, Jesus Christ walked the earth healing the sick, performing miracles, and teaching people how to live for God. After Jesus ascended into heaven, He sent another Advocate, the Person of the Holy Spirit to live within every person who believed in Him and all He taught them. Today, the moment a person believes in Jesus Christ and His finished work at the cross; he/she is born again. God sends the Holy Spirit to live within them as their Master. He/she no longer lives because God the Holy Spirit lives in them and He is now their Master. He begins to control their thoughts, words, and behavior.
The Holy Spirit will give the person who is a new creation Christ a hunger for the Word. The born again believer will desire to study the Bible. He will want to learn more about His Master. As the born again believer begins to learn God's Word, the Holy Spirit begins to change their lifestyle. He begins to move them in a different direction. Since they no longer live for themselves, but live for God; He begins to show them how to use their gifts, skills, talents, and abilities to serve Him. There will be a peace and joy they've never known before.
A true believer wants to know more about the One Who saved them from eternal hell. A true believer wants God's power working in them and through them. A true believer desires to study the Bible, and the more knowledge of the truth they gain, the more their faith will increase. The Holy Spirit operates in us and through us based on our knowledge of God's Word, the truth we have planted in our hearts. Those that keep their faith in Christ and what He did for them at the cross, God will give them supernatural power, just as He gave His Son to heal the sick, perform miracles, and teach others how to live for God.
As born again believers, new creations in Christ, we are the church, we are the temple of God. God Himself lives in us as the Person of the Holy Spirit. We gather with other believers because we love God. We worship Him, thank Him, learn from Him, and teach others about Him.
Father, we are the church. We are believers that meet together to worship You and thank You for our new life in Christ. May we continue to enjoy learning Your Word, fellowshipping with You daily, and expecting You to do greater things in us and through us. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Love in Christ,
Jan
