The Breath of God
I felt the breath of God today
He passed me on the trail
I quickly turned to see His face
But I was doomed to fail
“No man can look and live.” it’s said
Upon the face of God
I felt His breeze upon my face
But did not think it odd
The Spirit comes, the Spirit goes
And no man knows His path
We cannot know where He will go
And do not dare His wrath
God’s Spirit walks the earth each day
Seeking poor souls in need
He gently knocks upon the door
To bring them hope, indeed
But many fail to hear the sound
Of tapping on their doors
The world’s distractions glitter bright
Its hungry voice implores
Yet He is there both day and night
In hope, in faith, in love
To bring them joy, to bring them peace
As gentle as a dove.
