If you look next to any of my posts, you will se a Bible. I chose that as my avatar/icon here on TalkJesus about 17 years ago.
Why? Why the Bible?

I like things to be black and white. I like things to be written down. Where I work, we always have a paper trail. If it wasn't in email,
or some document, you can't hold me accountable for it. Whatever was said by the coffee machine was just talk. I may have forgotten about
it five minutes after we talked about it. But if it's written down... well now I have no excuses.

The Bible is the Word if God. Do you believe that? Either you do or you don't. Yes it was written by men, who were guided by God in what to write down.
Every few years, it seems there is a movement to discredit the Bible. You often hear people say, it's wrong, it's corrupted, your translation is wrong,
it has the wrong books in it... some that aren't supposed to be there were added, some that are supposed to be there were removed.

My God is bigger than that.

Job 38:4-7
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding... When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”
Psalm 147:4-5
“He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.”
Isaiah 40:26
“Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing.”

My God is all powerful. He knows how many stars are in the universe. He knows the names of them. He created them. He created the exact amount He desired. Not too few, not too many.

Job 12:15
“Behold, if He restrains the waters, they dry up; And if He sends them out, they inundate the earth.”
Psalm 104:10-13
“He sends forth springs in the valleys; They flow between the mountains... He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.”
Proverbs 21:1
“The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.”

My God controls the weather. He controls the the tide and the flow of the rivers.

Isaiah 46:9-10
“Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure.’”
Daniel 4:35
“All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, But He does according to His will in the host of heaven And among the inhabitants of earth; And no one can ward off His hand Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’”
Romans 8:28
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

My God is all powerful, all knowing. There is not a river that He does not control the course of.

Job 28:10-11
“He hews out channels through the rocks, And his eye sees anything precious. He dams up the streams from flowing, And what is hidden he brings out to the light.”
Job 38:31-33
“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, Or loose the cords of Orion? Can you lead forth a constellation in its season, And guide the Bear with her satellites? Do you know the ordinances of the heavens, Or fix their rule over the earth?”
Amos 5:8
“He who made the Pleiades and Orion And changes deep darkness into morning, Who also darkens day into night, Who calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the surface of the earth, The Lord is His name.”

The point here is... If God knows the number of hairs on you head, if He knows the names of all the stars, if He controls peoples hearts, if He control which direction the rivers flow.... Then certainly He is powerful enough to control what goes into the Bible.

Nothing is there He doesn't want to be there, and everything is there, that He does want to be there.
My God is in control of His Word.

2 Timothy 3:16 (NASB95)

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;”

Either you believe this,... or you don't. It really is that simple. Jesus "is" the Word of God.

John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14
“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

➤ This verse makes it unmistakable that “the Word” refers to Jesus.

Revelation 19:13
“He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.”

➤ This is a vision of Jesus returning in glory, clearly named “The Word of God.”

To say the Bible is incomplete, is really saying that Jesus is incomplete.

People are people, imperfect as we may be. But my God is perfect.

James 1:21
“Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.”

Receive the word.. which is able to save your soul. Without knowing the word... you are susceptible to anything.

Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
1 Peter 1:23
“For you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.”
2 Timothy 3:15
“And that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
The Bible... the very words of God are how we know God, how we know His character, how we know His will.

I'm not denying that God uses the Holy Spirit, and even people around us, to reveal things to us. But if these things are from God, they will never disagree with the Bible. The Bible is the baseline. The Bible is the ultimate authority about "what God says".

Not what you feel, not what you think. Not what "some" spirit revealed to you if it disagrees with the Bible.

Isaiah 40:8 (NASB95)

“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”

This verse is also echoed in the New Testament:

1 Peter 1:24–25 (NASB95)

“For, ‘All flesh is like grass, And all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, And the flower falls off, But the word of the Lord endures forever.’ And this is the word which was preached to you.”

The word of God isn't corrupted, it hasn't changed. The word of God... stands forever.

If your God isn't able to do that... maybe you have the wrong God?

Deuteronomy 4:2 (NASB95)
“You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.”
Deuteronomy 12:32 (NASB95)
“Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it.”
Proverbs 30:5–6 (NASB95)
“Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.”

Revelation 22:18–19 (NASB95)
“I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.”

A lot of languages over the centuries have come and gone. There is no country that speaks Latin anymore.
But isn't it interesting, that out of all the languages in the world. People still speak Hebrew, and people still speak Greek.
Yes, the language has changed slightly over the centuries... but not so much that people can't read it and understand it.

My God is in control!!

Jeremiah 32:17 (NASB95)

“Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You.”

I do not live by the Bible.

I live by the Spirit

However
It would be all right with me
If them that try to live by the Bible
(The commandments of Jesus)
Because they can't live by the Spirit
Because maybe
It will cause them
To be
Less evil
Then normally.

I hate evil

If we didn't have the Bible... we could make up whatever we want to. God says this... or God says that.
How would we know?

You know... this is exactly why Satan and his agents want to discredit the Bible. So you wont know.

I do not live by the Bible.

I rest my case.

2 Peter 1:20–21
“But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”

➤ This verse clearly shows that Scripture was written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 6:17
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

➤ The Word is described as the Spirit’s sword, showing how the Spirit wields the Word in spiritual battle.

John 6:63
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”

➤ Jesus connects His spoken words with the life-giving power of the Spirit.

If you don't have the Word of God in you, the Spirit doesn't profit you.

This is not true
You have like 3 million
different varieties of Bibles
And the Christians
Make up whatever they want to believe
Anyway and still even that they make up
They don't even always obey it themselves.
They try to make everyone else
Adhere to it.

So your statement is so incorrect
That it exceeds it.

To which I won

Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
Gal 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
Gal 5:21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

If you don't have the Word of God in you, the Spirit doesn't profit you.
This is also incorrect.
You sure do make a lot
Incorrect statements
On this forum.

But so does all the others
That post on.

Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

Those that will inherit
the kingdom of God
Are them whose inheritance
is the kingdom of God

Which was predetermined
Before anything was ever created.
