I was once one of those Anime (Japanese animation cartoon) fan, I watch and admire the characters and the plot of stories. One I got hook to most was Samurai X. The story is about a wanderer named Kenshin, he is a swordsman. He had a dark past, he used to be a merciless assassin who have killed thousands of people including his own wife, which have caused him to have an X mark on his left cheek, he felt great guilt. And afterwards decided to live a new life, he longed for atonement for the sins he have done by doing good to people. But it wasn’t that easy, because of his reputation. As he wandered, he found a new home that accepted him as a new person, Kamiya Kashin Dojo where he met his wife Kaoru. The journey revolved among him and his Kamiya Kashin family fighting altogether for justice.

The chapters then are series of battle for the sake of mankind during his era. He won the fights and people have started trusting him again. But it wasn’t enough for him. In 2nd OAV-part 2, which is the utmost ending of Samurai X. Kenshin is still looking for atonement, peaceful times have come but he wanted to do more. He left his wife and kid to help the sick and victims of disaster until he had been infected with a deadly disease that caused his death. He was able to go back to Kamiya with his wife during the last hours of his life.

Lying in the grass watching Sakura falls Kaoru notice that Kenshin’s scar has faded and said “Finally it was gone, he had found his atonement.” Of course not, but as I was emotionally taken by the plot of the story, a thought have come to mind “What if Kenshin knew about Jesus Christ, he would had not struggled his life looking for an atonement.” There are a lot of Kenshin around us, people who had found themselves guilty of sin and decide to change. They repented, not knowing the true meaning of sin and the true atonement for sin. As Christians, it is our duty to share the Good News. Let us not keep them to ourselves. As the Scriptures say in Romans 1:16, we should not be ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. . Don’t let another Kenshin die without knowing Christ!

this is one of my articles at our church paper, just thought to share it. hope u like it. it was with a heavy heart that i wrote this.:unlove:

Re: The atonement for sin

Thank you for this story, Truehearts. People all over the world struggle to atone for things they have done, but to no avail. So many religions have people try to reach their god/gods and gain forgiveness by their own works. The best they can tell their followers is that if they keep trying, they might get their god's attention.

How blessed we are to know that our God hears us and forgives!
