I love Christ...

and I love Christmas.

And no I`m not a pagan, there are many more days and many more things I love, including holidays and birthdays and laughter and singing and children and birds and winter and spring ...

k...you get the drift...and if you`re too sanctimonious to enjoy Gods incredible gifts...then take your lump of coal and go see if you can kindle a fire by your own cold hearth, i`m claiming this thread for the love of Christmas

I sing this song at the top of my lungs every Christmas...(with tears in my eyes) oh how I love my Lord!

C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S :

When I was but a youngster,
Christmas meant one thing,
That I'd be getting lots of toys that day.
I learned a whole lot different,
When my Mother sat me down,
And taught me to spell Christmas this way:

"C" is for the Christ child, born upon this day,
"H" for herald angels in the night,
"R" means our Redeemer,
"I" means Israel,
"S" is for the star that shone so bright,
"T" is for three wise men, they who traveled far,
"M" is for the manger where he lay,
"A"'s for all He stands for,
"S" means shepherds came,

And that's why there's a Christmas day,
And that's why there's a Christmas day!

...anybody else who has a favorite song about Christmas I`d love you to share it!

A dedication to my children (and Daizy) My one prayer is they will know Christ like I do...

Rewrite to A Baby Just Like You :
(John Denver)

The season is upon us now
A time for gifts and giving
And as the year draws to its close
I think about my living

The Christmas time when I was young,
The magic and the wonder,
But colors dull and candles dim,
And dark my standing under

O my children, shining light
You've set my soul to dreaming
You've given back my joy in life
And filled me with new meaning

A Savior King was born that day,
A baby just like you,
And as the Magi came with gifts,
I come with my gift too

That peace on Earth fills up your time,
That brotherhood surrounds you.
That you may know the warmth of love,
And wrap it all around you

It's just a wish, a dream I'm told
From days when I was young
Merry Christmas, little children
Merry Christmas, everyone
Merry Christmas, my little children
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Lyrics to When A Child Is Born :

A ray of hope flickers in the sky
A tiny star lights up way up high
All across the land dawns a brand new morn
This comes to pass when a child is born

A silent wish sails the seven seas
The winds of change whisper in the trees
And the walls of doubt crumble tossed and torn
This comes to pass, when a child is born

A rosy hue settles all around
You got the feel, you're on solid ground
For a spell or two no one seems forlorn
This comes to pass, when a child is born

[Spoken:]
And all of this happens, because the world is waiting.
Waiting for one child; Black-white-yellow, no one knows...
But a child that will grow up and turn tears to laughter,
Hate to love, war to peace and everyone to everyone's neighbor,
And misery and suffering will be words to be forgotten forever.

It's all a dream and illusion now,
It must come true sometime soon somehow,
All across the land dawns a brand new morn,
This comes to pass when a child is born.

Lyrics to This Season Will Never Grow Old :
(Rita MacNeil)

Christmas is coming, I can tell by the smiles
I remember the snowflakes that fell from the sky
And covered the village that lay sleeping below
Thank goodness this season will never grow old

I look through my window well into the night
Watching and waiting and hoping I might
See one little reindeer run through the snow
Thank goodness the season will never grow old

Christmas is coming, may joy fill your home
And the spirit be with you wherever you go

Trees with full branches were the first ones to go
I remember the children who came to the door
And sang out the carols we all used to know
Thank goodness this season will never grow old

All round the fire, the warmth of the flame
Tip-toeing softly trying not to awake
The ones who lay waiting for good things you know
Thank goodness this season will never grow old

Christmas is coming, may joy fill your home
And the spirit be with you wherever you go

Lyrics to The Angel's Song :

Now let us sing the Angel's song
That rang so sweet and clear,
When heav'nly light and music fell
On earthly eye and ear;
To Him we sing, our Saviour King,
Who always deigns to hear:
"Glory to God, and peace on earth."

He came to tell the Father's love,
His goodness, truth and grace;
To show the brightness of His smile,
The glory of His face;
With His own light, so full and bright,
The shades of death to chase.
"Glory to God, and peace on earth."

He came to bright the weary ones
True peace and perfect rest;
To take away the guilt and sing
Which darken'd and distressed,
That great and small might hear His call,
Again we raise on high.
"Glory to God, and peace on earth."

He came to bring a glorious gift,
Good will to men; - and why?
Because He loved us, Jesus came
For us to live and die;
Then sweet and long, the Angels' song,
Again we raise on high.
"Glory to God, and peace on earth."

Lyrics to Praise The Saviour All Ye Nations :

Praise the Saviour, all ye nations,
Praise Him, all ye hosts above;
Shout, with joyful acclamation,
His divine, victorious love;
Be His kingdom now promoted,
Let the earth her Monarch know;
Be my all to Him devoted,
To my Lord my all I owe.

See how beauteous on the mountains
Are their feet, whose grand design
Is to guide us to the fountains
That o'erflow with bliss divine,
Who proclaim the joyful tidings
Of salvation all around,
Disregard the world's deridings,
And in works of love abound.

With my substance will I honor
My Redeemer and my Lord;
Were ten thousand worlds my manor,
All were nothing to His Word:
While the heralds of salvation
His abounding grace proclaim,
Let His friends, of every station,
Gladly join to spread His fame

Lyrics to Someday At Christmas :

Someday at Christmas men won't be boys
Playing with bombs like kids play with toys
One warm December our hearts will see
A world where men are free

Someday at Christmas there'll be no wars
When we have learned what Christmas is for
When we have found what life's really worth
There'll be peace on earth

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime

Someday at Christmas we'll see a Man
No hungry children, no empty hand
One happy morning people will share
Our world where people care

Someday at Christmas there'll be no tears
All men are equal and no men have fears
One shinning moment my heart ran away
From our world today

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime

Someday at Christmas man will not fail
Take hope because your love will prevail
Someday a new world that we can start
With hope in every heart

Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime

Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Come again Lord Jesus...

Lyrics to Do They Know It's Christmas :
(B. Geldof)

It's Christmas time; there's no need to be afraid
At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmas time
But say a prayer to pray for the other ones
At Christmas time

It's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears

And the Christmas bells that ring there
Are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time

The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Oh, where nothing ever grows, no rain or rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Here's to you, raise a glass for ev'ryone
Here's to them, underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Feed the world
Feed the world

Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again

Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again

Mary Did You Know?
(Mark Lowry)

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels tried?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.

A Strange Way To Save The World
(4 Him)

Sure he must have been surprised
At where this road had taken him
'Cause never in a million lives
Would he had dreamed of Bethlehem
And standing at the manger
He saw with his own eyes
The message from the angel come to life
And Joseph said...

(CHORUS)
Why me, I'm just a simple man of trade
Why Him, with all the rulers in the world
Why here inside this stable filled with hay
Why her, she's just an ordinary girl
Now I'm not one to second guess what angels have to say
But this is such a strange way to save the world

To think of how it could have been
If Jesus had come as He deserved
There would have been no Bethlehem
No lowly shepherds at His birth
But Joseph knew the reason
Love had to reach so far
And as he held the Savior in his arms
He must have thought...

(CHORUS)

Now I'm not one to second guess what angels have to say
But this is such a strange way to save the world
...this is such a strange way to save the world...Saving the World

The Christmas Shoes
(NewSong)

It was almost Christmas time,
There I stood in another line
Trying to buy that last gift or two,
Not really in the Christmas mood.
Standing right in front of me
Was a little boy waiting anxiously,
Pacing round like little boys do,
And in his hands, he held a pair of shoes.
And his clothes were worn and old.
He was dirty from head to toe,
And when it came his time to pay,
I couldnt believe what I heard him say.

Chorus:

Sir, I wanna buy these shoes for my momma please.
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size.
Could you hurry, Sir?
Daddy says there's not much time.
You see, she's been sick for quite a while;
Know these shoes will make her smile.
Want her to look beautiful if Momma meets Jesus tonight.

He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said Theres not enough here.
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me.
He said Momma made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without.
Tell me, Sir, what am I gonna do?
Somehow Ive got to buy these Christmas shoes!
So I laid the money down;
I just had to help him out.
And Ill never forget the look on his face
When he said Mommas gonna look so great!

Chorus

I knew that I got a glimpse of heavens love
As he thanked me and ran out.
I knew that God had sent that little boy to remind me
What Christmas is all about.
Chorus in childrens voices

Young boy:
I want her to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus tonight.

"In Tom Reynolds 2006 book I Hate Myself and Want to Die: The 52 Most Depressing Songs You've Ever Heard, he names "The Christmas Shoes" as the most depressing song in modern recorded music history." I got that from wikipedia! Interesting how someone who doesn't get the TRUE meaning of this song! If this little boy's mother is going to Heaven, it isn't really depressing. A little sad...but it isn't depressing.

thank you coconut!! that was beautiful..and that first song brings back so many memories of when i was a child...and reminds us all of what Christmas is all about!!

My Christmas is about Christ...His glory, His bounty, His giving...Christmas is my special thanksgiving ....with emphasis on the giving...not the gorging ...

but so is every other day and season of my life...others can do with it what they want with it..

I think remembering is why I like Christmas so much...

Love those songs Giggles! ~ its good for the soul for a-body to cry

I woke up to freshly fallen snow...well snow and slush lol...

Fellowservant cut down a birch tree, and set it in cement in a bucket on the steps so it wouldnt blow away in the North winds that are sure to come, then strung white lights on it...looks like twinkling stars...its beautiful! I love him...(thank you darling) and I love the snow...and I`m dreaming of a white Christmas ...

:embarasse

On my myspace, in my status thing I put 'Jesus, could we please have some snow?'

So...we'll see!

Not That Far From Bethlehem
(Point of Grace)

Underneath the stars
Just a simple man and wife
Somewhere in the dark
His words cut the silent night
Take my hand, for the child
That you carry is gods own
And though it seems the road is long

(chorus)
Were not that far from bethlehem
Here all our hope and joy begins
For in our arms well cherish him
Were not that far, not that far from bethlehem

Let us celebrate
As the christmases go by
Learn to live our days
With our hearts near to the child
Ever drawn, ever close
To the only love that lasts
And though 2000 years have passed

(2nd chorus)
Were not that far from bethlehem
Where all our hope and joy began
For when our hearts still cherish him
Were not that far, not that far from bethlehem

My husband and I live in Shenandoah Valley and we get very little snow if at all.

I grew up in PA. There was like two blizzards while I was there. I remember one that the snow was up to my waist! I loved it!

So, I'm ready for snow. For Christmas, Ben and I are going to his parents in Kentucky. So, we'll see.

It snows in Kentucky to eh? *pats myself on the back for knowing this* haha :embarasse

We got so much snow here last winter we did`nt know what to do with it...you`d love Canada lol...and Christmas or not... if I am heard wishing for snow by my neighbors, they`ll *snowball* me for sure!

From Heaven Above To Earth I Come

From heaven above to earth I come,
To bear good news to every home,
Glad tidings of great joy I bring,
Whereof I now will gladly sing.

To you this night is born a Child
Of Mary, chosen mother mild;
This little Child, of lowly birth,
Shall be the joy of all the earth.

Glory to God in highest heaven,
Who unto us His Son hath given
While angels sing with pious mirth,
A glad New Year to all the earth.

I`m so glad Jesus came, whenever He came....
I`ll be so glad when He comes again, whenever He comes.

Raye Collin What If Jesus Comes Back Like That Lyrics

He came to town on an old freight train
He jumped off in the pouring rain
Everybody said he's insane
Just a low down no account hobo
He made his bed beneath the county bridge
The city folks said hey that's not his
They signed a petition they're gonna get rid
Of that low down no account white trash
What if Jesus comes back like that
On an old freight train in a hobo hat
Will we let him in or turn our back
What if Jesus comes back like that
Oh what if Jesus comes back like that

She was born into drug abuse
She couldn't help what her mama used
It wasn't like she got to choose
Now she's layin' there all alone
Got a monkey on her back
Nurses say they never saw a smile like that
Doctor says she might stand a chance
If somebody takes her home
What if Jesus comes back like that
Two months early and hooked on crack
Will we let him in or turn our back
What if Jesus comes back like that
Oh what if Jesus comes back like that

Nobody said life is fair
We've all got a cross to bear
When it gets a little hard to care
Just think about him hanging there
He came to town on a cold dark night
A single star was his only light
The baby born that silent night
A manger for his bed
What if Jesus comes back like that
Where will he find our hearts are at
Will he let us in or turn his back
What if Jesus comes back like that
Will he cry when he sees where our hearts are at
Will he let us in or turn his back
What if Jesus comes back like that
Hey what if Jesus comes back like that
