I have 9 tattoo's and I plan on getting more. Not every Christian has the mind set of not believing in them. My brother used to be a minister has one tattoo, and his pastor has a tattoo as well. Tattoo's aren't exactly shunned anymore. I believe in God and I trust in God and I believe even with my tattoo's i'll still get in heaven.

You guys speak of being pure, I have one question. When someone goes in for surgery and they cut you open and sew you back up, are you still pure? You are left with a scar on your body, just like a piercing or a tattoo would leave( face it, tattoo's are scars that are pretty), therefore you would not be pure anymore. Does that mean that God will not accept you into heaven because of that?

I was told that once you die and when you are going into heaven you as a spirit are clean, you are pure. You aren't the same as you were on earth. Why would getting a tattoo make a difference if you are pure and innocent when you go into heaven ????

Sorry this is more of a rant then anything, I didn't read through all of this thread. It just bother's me that there is still people out in the world that are black and white( come on, be colourful)!. From what I know/understand Jesus died on the cross for our sins. I am sure us with tattoo's will get accepted into heaven just as much as the people who don't have tattoo's.

Under stand that my posts are not ment to judge only to cause one to reflect on choices in life .,its not mine or any body else's place to judge ,Only The Lord sets in that seat ,my son has many from the service and as I said I always wanted a RF with wings and a tilted halo that says Preacher under it .! But what has stopped me was the long term effects in MY soul alone ...The rest is between you and God and yes God will use any thing we Give him ...In love .....Rev

I wasn't directing anything to you alone. Like I said, I didn't read all of this thread. I just want to know what the huge deal is. I know many Christians who have tattoo's. God isn't going to shun me because I made my skin beautiful!

Not every Christian has the mind set of not believing in them.
Nowadays I would not make my decisions on what is right or wrong based on what "Christians" "believe" in. There are major errors in most of the churches here in Canada, not to mention the whole world. We need to look to the Holy Scriptures to see what God thinks about things. Ask Him and always seek to glorify Him.

I believe in God and I trust in God and I believe even with my tattoo's i'll still get in heaven.
I do not think any of us think that having a tattoo will get you sent to hell. And yes, we will be pure when we do get to Heaven. BUT, in James 1:27 it says, "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

"It just bother's me that there is still people out in the world that are black and white( come on, be colourful)!."

There has been a great condemning of black and white in recent years (maybe even longer) and the world is yelling at the Believers, "BE BALANCED, BE TOLERANT, ACCEPT THE WORLD, DON'T BE SO BLACK AND WHITE. YOU'RE MINDS AND LIVES ARE CLOSED THE THE PLEASURES OF THE WORLD. DON'T BE SO STUCK UP WITH YOUR RELIGION! NOBODY WANTS IT. WE WANT LOVE. WE WANT ACCEPTANCE. WE WANT YOU TO JOIN US IN OUR LOVE OF THE WORLD. DO NOT BE HOT, AND DON'T BE COLD. BE LUKEWARM!"

And they applaud the Christian that doesn't make them uncomfortable. They should be hating who we are. God says the darkness hates the light. If the world loves these "Christians" don't you think that just maybe they are of the world? In Rev. 4:13-22

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.

And unto the angel ot the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would that thou wert cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold not hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see;

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore , and repent.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and sup with him, ahd he with Me.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."

I wasn't going to write out all of that, but, is so good to remember, and hear these words.

In an age of sin, imperfection, and impurity, desire seems to come natural with us. Why not, right? But as Siddhartha Gautama once said, "To end all suffering, we must end all desire." I believe that, as an individual and as whole, we must follow in the footsteps of Jesus. I struggle financially, I don't know what to go to school for, what to follow career-wise. Jesus said, "The fox has a den but the son of man has no place to lay his head. Are you sure you want to follow me?" YES, Jesus, I want to follow you. I want to be poor if it means earning a trip to my salvation with you and GOD. I am a beloved in this world. I used to be on drugs. I love my fiancé to death! But I want my calling to be here, LOUD AND CLEAR. By the way, I read sayings of the Buddha, in the Dhammapada. Here is another I would like to share... "Happy is the arising of the awakened, happy is the teaching of the True Law, happy is peace in the church, happy is the devotion of those who are at peace." Bye!!!

Huh? Why are you quoting Buddha on a Christian site? Is there any scripture even close to this quote? Should we end God's desire also?

Lately it appears to me more and more that Cote Dawg is venturing of in his own fantasy self made kind of his own gospel which is not the True Gospel.

Is it needed that you share your babling here and therewith try to mix and polute here?

i appeal that if you do not take heed to the real Gospel and the much reproof that was given that your account should be blocked.

You need to repent and believe the Gospel Cote Dawg, no longer you but Jesus!

Hallelujah! Glory to GOD!

I used to say never try to teach a pig to sing,it wastes you're time and annoys the pig..! Then when I got saved I found this Matt 7:6 6 Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces. Does not Gods word influance every thing around us ...?..It seems to me quoting Buddha is no different than quoting mark twain Just don't call it the word of God or I'm sure the Gloves will come off .....lol.....Rev

I was going to say, Cote Dawg made no sense at all.

I have my views on Christianity and other people have their own. I guess i'll never be completely a "full Christian" according to some of the thing's you guys have posted because I believe in a lot of thing's that are in today's world. That does not mean I do not believe in the bible at all because I do and it doesn't mean I don't believe in God/Jesus because I do. I just have a different way of thinking then most Christians( and no I don't believe it's a sin to think differently).

Maybe this site was a little too much for me to join :baffle:

Hey Jessika,

Just saying, most of mainline Christians in our country do not "talk" the Bible like these guys do here. The mainline barely even knows what God says in the Bible, and the things they have heard they don't want to apply to their lives. And those that do know the Bible and just "talk" and don't "walk" should hear this.

James 1:21-25

"Wherefore, lay apart all and filthiness and superfluity* of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass.

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

But whosoever looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."

[h=2]*Clarke's Commentary on James 1:21[/h]All filthiness - Πασαν ῥυπαριαν. This word signifies any impurity that cleaves to the body; but applied to the mind, it implies all impure and unholy affections, such as those spoken of James 1:15, which pollute the soul; in this sense it is used by the best Greek writers.

Superfluity of naughtiness - Περισσειαν κακιας· The overflowing of wickedness. Perhaps there is an allusion here to the part cut off in circumcision, which was the emblem of impure desire; and to lessen that propensity, God, in his mercy, enacted this rite. Put all these evil dispositions aside, for they blind the soul, and render it incapable of receiving any good, even from that ingrafted word of God which otherwise would have saved their souls.

The ingrafted word - That doctrine which has already been planted among you, which has brought forth fruit in all them that have meekly and humbly received it, and is as powerful to save your souls as the souls of those who have already believed. I think this to be the meaning of εμφυτον λογον, the ingrafted word or doctrine. The seed of life had been sown in the land; many of them had received it to their salvation; others had partially credited it, but not so as to produce in them any saving effects. Besides, they appear to have taken up with other doctrines, from which they had got no salvation; he therefore exhorts them to receive the doctrine of Christ, which would be the means of saving them unto eternal life. And when those who were Jews, and who had been originally planted by God as altogether a right vine, received the faith of the Gospel, it is represented as being ingrafted on that right stock, the pure knowledge of the true God and his holy moral law. This indeed was a good stock on which to implant Christianity. This appears to be what the apostle means by the ingrafted word, which is able to save the soul.

Anyway, I encourage you not to give up on learning what God wants from you, after all, in the Greek He is refered to as a "tyrant". Do not cling on to some false God you have created in your mind. Saying that you like what He says here, but don't like what He says in some other area.

Hope you stay on Sister,

Love in Christ,

anya

P.S. I preach to myself just as much as I preach to others.

I see rev just posted a message while I was writing mine. He is right I believe. We are non denominational, and the site says that it is for serious Christians, as well as for those who are seeking God. I do not think that it matters how mature in Christ you are, as long as you are seeking to do His will, and want to learn of Him.

A bit much, huh? Maybe we have given a little bit too much meat for some of our readers. 1 Cor. 3:1-2 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able."

To you others, I think I might have blown it today with my witnessing. I was talking to a ten year old, somehow thinking that she had some kind of background in the word of God. She just barely knows who Jesus is. Anyway, praise God I was able to witness and tell of Him. Please pray that at least some of what I said was able to be understood, and that it would have fallen on good ground.

I think majority of tattoos are wrong, its like marking up what God has given you, but I know there is Christian Punk/Metal fans and bands who tattoo within Christ themes and I think that'd be okay because your worshipping him so I think it all depends on what u want it of.

Seriously?
Yes some tattoo's are distasteful. but they mean something to the person.
I have two cross tattoo's, one says mom the other is my god parents. When I got them it and I still believe that it has nothing to do with god. Doesn't mean that they are "wrong". Good for the people who get christian tattoo's though. But not all tattoo's are going to be god based, and I think that it's wrong to only like tattoo's based on it being christian or not.

Our body is not a canvas, it is the temple of God. Why would anyone want to pierce or put tattoo in it? Even today's christian bands look so gross with all tattoos and piercing in their body. We, Christian, are peculiar people, a royal priesthood. The world should be able to look at us and INSTANTLY know that we are not one of them!

"If ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation," Exodus 19:5-6.

"As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy," 1 Peter 1:14-16.

I know in the bible it speaks some about marking your body to worship other gods but in my personal opinion the outside has nothing to do with whats on the inside. I have a couple of tattoos and they glorify God. Your skin has nothing to do with your soul. I think "christians" that wouldnt approach someone with tattoos or assumes someone isnt a christian because they have them arent very christian themselves.
