I have read the posts about contradictions of the bible and of mormonism and the qur'an.
I am a member on another forum and I have used some of Chad's posts about them with its link attached (to say that I wasn't the one who originally wrote them)

Now, there are non-believers asking me questions I myself am struggling to answer.
This is what one poster stated,

"Just a few things I wanted to point out.
Just because you don't believe in Jesus in the Christian concept, doesn't mean that you don't believe in God.

To quote what you said:

"So, when someone alleges that the Bible cannot be trusted because it contains contradictions, we might turn the question around and simply ask him, “If the Bible is not true, then why would contradictions be wrong?

I don't see where you are getting it and don't understand completely. Couldn't the same be applied to the Quran and other religious books? So because we are setting out to find contradictions in Bible, that action in itself proves that the Bible is true?

And, of course I could be wrong, but I don't think the point of the thread was to convince other people of our personal beliefs.

What shall I say to this response? Can we turn this into an argument that involves the other members here?

Here's another one.

I said, the Bibles as they exist now are full of misinterpretations and mistranslations. Let's stop denying it. I don't say this stuff because I want an excuse to "not believe". I fought hard to find real evidence of the validity of religion and I found none. It was hard letting go of the religious security blanket, but when I did I felt so free. Look up the Council of Nicea as well as King James. The King James Bible was translated with the intention of creating law and order among the people, as well as enforcing laws and ideas, which the people wouldn't accept unless they were told that "God" said it. With all the flaws of the King James version, people still read it today. Also, there are a number of different Bible translations with completely different interpretations.
Please, tell me, which one is 100% accurate.

Contextually, if one or two words are different within a translation, it changes the entire meaning. I've made plenty of observations of such myself when comparing. Taking into consideration that people interpret things differently (hence the different Christian sects and the infighting of the Disciples), you can't say that things would be great if everyone followed "God's word" when no one can even agree on what that is.

Also, I don't need "God's laws" to make me a good person. I know plenty of people that have never touched religion and they are more moral than most of the "religious" people I've ever met. I find that they are also less stressed in life. With religion I felt ignorant and stressed, without it, I feel free, and the other things I'm learning about (which are the true sources of knowledge, not the bastardized religious versions) are much more enlightening than anything I could take from the Bible.

Yet, Christians will say not to believe anything you read. This is the reason why many of them know nothing about the world outside of their religious communities. NOTHING you can tell me will change my mind about religion. I don't trust the Bible with all of its flaws, so please stop quoting it as if that is going to teach me something new. I told you, I have already read it. You reposting it isn't going to make me a believer again.

I would also like for you to do the research on your own religion with full respect to historical context and how it is utilized and understood before you try to tell people that they should trust it. So far you haven't discussed anything or provided any empirical evidence in support of your religion other than subjective and biased information. All of the articles presented are slanted in favor of religion and doesn't fully tackle the questions or issues that I have addressed, because they can't. All that has been provided so far is a marketing campaign in support of your religion. In the world of academia, and the real world in general, this does not hold up.

Also, if "God" knows all and sees all waaay before it happens, then why would he create us, knowing full well that supposedly we would "disobey" him, then cast the punishment down to future generations that have nothing to do with it, then HAVE to ritualistically sacrifice his "son" in order to forgive us? If he is "God" he doesn't need a ritual or have to follow a pattern. The pattern should revolve around him. I'm more merciful than this "God" is. If someone did something to me, I'm not going to punish their whole family for it.

These supposed mysterious ways (which is a cop-out to keep people from asking real questions) make no sense. He could have stopped this madness before it started. There are people suffering in this world that have done nothing to deserve it. They call out for "God" and get no answer, then they die miserable. But their rewawrd (if it exists, since no one has actual proof) is supposedly in Heaven. But oh, let's hope that they worshipped god the right way under the right religion, because then, they don't get to enter. Yet "God" is ALL loving, except for those who were born in different places with different cultural beliefs. That's all religion boils down to.

If you happened to be born in India you would be Hindu, and you would be telling me that that was the proper religion. Basically, the punishment doesn't fit the crime. Here's a scenario: So I witnessed a murder and told the person that I wouldn't say anything, because if I did, they would kill me. However I fibbed. I told the police anyway. Right after I did so, I died and forgot to ask "God" for forgiveness. Oh, no! That means I should burn in hell for all eternity, because all sins are the same and they all carry the same punishment. God makes no exceptions. But "God" can't stop this fate. It's ALL your fault.

You asked to be here, although "God" creates and is in control of everything supposedly. You (the flawed human) should have known better and done better, but you didn't. Not everyone's life is cookie-cutter and that easy to simply apply "God's" rules for living. Try reading something other than what happens in America or listening what you see on the evening news as reality. There are issues in this world that "God's rules" and love don't fix.

God's wisdom is foolish to the unlearned, but God is not a liar. Do I believe man's wisdom and concepts or God's wisdom?
Can they prove that God does not exist? They do not have the mind of Christ, so how can they understand?

God Bless, Trish

Both of you are right. The message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.
I have told her that I respect her choice and will leave her be.
I have sent her and posted many things, yet she still has the willingness of unbelief.
Honestly, I was getting a bit frustrated but I know that you cannot make someone believe, no matter how hard you try.
So I will leave it to God.

Hi there,

I believe that if the Bible is 'rightly divided' (2 Tim. 2:15) then there are no contradictions at all. The problem comes when we fail to consider the apparent contradiction in the light of such questions as,

What? - Word for word, what has been written in the verse?
Before - What has been written before this verse?
After - What comes after this verse?

Who? - To whom is the verse addressed? and/or Who is referred to in the verse?

When? - When in Bible history does the verse appear?

Why? - Why does the verse appear in Scripture?

For example there are things that are said under the administration of 'law', that have no place in the administration of 'grace'.

Just my thoughts
In Christ

I recommend a Book called "Alleged Discrepancies of the Bible" By John Hailey. It is heavy reading but would clear up a lot of issues.

As to you first question fielded- even the devil himself believes in God and we cannot come to the Father without Christ.
So yes an non Christian can believe in God but cannot know God without Christ.

Sometimes that is the best thing to do, you are making a wise decision.

God Bless, Trish

The truth

Now if some one says "Just because you don't believe in Jesus in the Christian concept, doesn't mean that you don't believe in God."

If a person believes God exist, what good is that going to do, that is not going to get a person to heaven. The devils believe and tremble

If they think they can have a relationship with God apart from Christ and by their own works be justified in God's sight

I ask this, God is justice, and this is the reason why the other religions like Musilum I see a big error for them. I am not fimilair that much with their religous doctrine, but as far as I know Christianity is the only faith in the world that is by faith and not by some sort of works system. But look at the rightousness and the justice of God.

God being just, has to punish you for even one sin. Else He would not be just but rather injust. Romans 3:23) "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God", and remember

(James 2:10) "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

Name a person that has not broken at least, but like majority if not all of ten commandments. Remember that these are what God is going to lift up to the world on the day of judgement. When you beam the ten commandments upon a person, they will have admitted they have broken them in some way shape or form.

Now considering the above paragraph, how can a righteous and just God ever just say, I forgive you, you are free from the sentence YOU DESERVE? He can't because that would mean that God is an unjust judge. So His justice has to be statisfied, so in all those other religions that claim they can get to God, where is the propitiation for their sins that they have offended God with? What would take their place to bear the wrath of Almighty God? They would have nothing, thus concluding, looking at God's justice and righteousness, they would be damned, lest they turn unto the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in Him. This is when the light shines forth, when the person realizes that they are in darkness and havee no way out. Then when Christ is introduced, they truly see why they need Him.

John 3:36) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 8:24) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Romans 3 holds what some preachers would call the seed of the Gospel.

Romans 3

19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
