Stumbling and Victory

Sometimes as Christians we stumble. Yes, it happens.

Prov 24:16; For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity.

But the key here is.. don't stay down. Don't stay defeated. It says the righteous man falls seven times....
...but... He gets back up again. He doesn't stay down. He "rises again".

Matt 5:30; "If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.

Notice you don't have to go to hell just because you stumbled. Get rid of whatever is causing you to stumble.
These verses are controversial, but I don't think they necessarily tell us to maim ourselves. I think the
point here is... get rid of these things, whatever it is that is causing you to stumble. Better for you
to get rid of these things than to go to hell.

Matt 18:6; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

Jesus says we can cause other believer to stumble. We need to be careful how we influence other Christians.

Paul says something similar.

1 Cor 8:13; Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble.

James says... Jas 3:2; For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.

But the good news is... we don't have to stay down. We don't have to stay defeated. We have the victory in Jesus.

1 Cor 15:57; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Jn 5:4; For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

Rev 21:7; "He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.

Rom 8:37; But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

We need to quit giving in so easily. We need to quit giving Satan all the victory and credit.
It seems so many Christians live in this attitude... Oh... I just can't do it.
Oh I have so many things just coming at me right now. Oh I'm just a failure at everything.
Oh I'm just a sinner and I will always sin. ... Where does the Bible say that?

In fact it says just the opposite.

John 10:10; "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Jesus didn't come so we could be defeated. He came so we could have life abundantly.

Jesus didn't come so we would have to continue to be slaves to sin.

John 8:36; "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

So if Jesus say we can be conquerors and overcomers, why don't we believe Him?
If Jesus says we can be free and have abundant life, why don't we believe Him?

this is a great post

what are some real world stumbling examples, for me thoughts going to the wrong place even if its just for second, but because Jesus has given me the power to turn away those thouhgts I do use it to not linger in these thoughts any more, but to me I always thought that was a example of stumbling but you guys say its not, so perhaps I am not such a stumbler after all

Now I do on a occasion get angry while driving that for sure is stumbling, thank God I do not stay angry and usually laugh at myself for being angry at such a stupid thing.

Example,
God had already Given them the promised land. It was theirs.
All they had to do was go and take Possession of the Land.
Remember God Already said He has Given them the Land.

Giants and such show up and they Quickly Forget God Had Already Given Them The Land.
They give up. The walk away thinking they can't have it.

Nothing has changed.
God said He Will heal us, so we have the healing but we need to access it through faith.

So a giant shows up saying no you can't have it. Instead of fighting the good fight of faith we see people lose hope and give up.

We hear well it must not be Gods will to heal me or God is trying to teach me something .

No ! satan is stealing and killing and destroying.
Anything Promised us through Grace must be accessed Through Faith and this means you will have to fight.

Example 2,
I will stick with the same topic of healing.

You pray and believe God for your healing.
Symptoms get worse or keep coming back.

This is when you hear believers using perverted talk. They speak out against Gods Word stopping their faith and allowing their healing to be stolen.

Ohhh I am so sick. This is going to kill me. I don't know why God did not heal me ohhh I am so sick.

See any faith in their?
Why are they not saying ohh I am so healed, in between puking?

Why are they not using their shield and sword?

No friends, your gonna have to fight or get kicked around by your enemy.

We all should agree speaking Gods Word works for us.

So why not grasp that speaking words opposed to Gods word works against us.

Its time to understand you are going to have to fight for what is yours. There is no place for the natural thinking in a Spiritual Battle.

Blessings

As I said Nothing has changed.
The church today faces the same persecution as the early church did.
Thats why God put the Letters He did in the Bible. They are examples of what to do and not do.
What has changed is the tools and resources used.

People build doctrines and dismiss parables trying to be so spiritual. Foolishness!!

One example,
Why don't believers connect Adam and Eve's fall with Jesus being tempted?

Adam and Eve is an example of not casting down thoughts and giving them thought.
They listened to satan and entertained his words until they gave in and disobeyed God.

Now look at The Example Jesus gave us.
He did not converse and entertain the thoughts that satan was delivering unto Him.

No! He Immediately spoke Gods Word. It is Written.
satan had no choice but to leave and try again.

Submit unto God
Resist the devil
he will have to flee

Yes he will be back and you just run him out each time.

Blessings

I hope this post is an indication that you are now believing my words concerning living without sin.
In Jesus' name I pray.
