Striving

It took a while to understand
That I could do no more
I tried to be the best I can
But slipped back to before
My striving was a blockage
I just got in the way
I had to let Him have me whole
To work on my decay.

Many years have passed since then
And I am now content
To let Him change me gradually
I gave Him my consent
I know I am a sinner
I'm sorry when I lapse
Through Jesus He's forgiven me
He fills in all my gaps.
